Opensource body set PSD [lock imminent]

One of many more to come, hopefully. You can use this in commercial or noncommercial works, distribute it freely, modify it, no attribution necessary, just get your stuff Out There. The only thing you may not do is sell these alone for profit.

I really like the realistic body shading and muscle definition. I don't know if I'm going to use these (I like making my own sprites, even if they're bad) but this is a really helpful resource. Thanks!

Free to modify and distribute so have at it! :D You can even trace off of it, if you like. No one starts out good... and even beginning sketches usually suck.

>>Using photo reference correctly<<
Research guns and find out what makes them look like guns. What are the elements that people see and recognize as "gun"? No matter what people may think, artists are not dictionaries of everything they might ever need to draw, and even if you've seen something a million times there are probably hundreds of details that slipped your notice until you look at them again.

Anything you want to draw, it helps to really research it and make sure you understand it. What really makes it yours though will be what you do with it from there. What you add to it, leave off it, or how you combine it with another idea.
I'm sorry if you are disappointed by the workflow of professionals or how we use all the tools at our fingertips. I've sat down and drawn traditionally (even thousands) of animation cels.

I've also made my own models back at Joshibi University with an ancient version of 3DSmax. And rigged them, UVmapped them, and textured them. Right now, I'm back into digital painting but I slip in and out of styles pretty effortlessly.

Please don't log in as a guest just to troll me, I find it offensive. Say it to my face under your own name or register if you want to say it. I also find it ironic that I posted this just yesterday on my Twitter:
# False dichotomies I don't like: Japanese vs. American, Traditional vs. Digital, "Real Art" vs. Art, 2D vs. 3D, Men vs. Women 10:50 AM Dec 4th from web
Like it or not, modern artists are using ALL the media they can if they want to be successful. I mean, you'd have to be a complete idiot not to. So, please, strive harder in your own endeavors and perhaps your mind will be more open after all your experiences. I wish you the best.

If being a "pro" means tracing 3d models (which it doesn't), then I would rather be an amateur, yo.

You tried this time with a shot in the dark, but you were wrong. I used about 4-5 photos for that one, like I usually do. One for arms, torso, face, legs. I need to do more realism studies and break away from my cartooning habit but I fit them in whenever I can, unfortunately.

They're all from character-designs.com (or whatever it's called) and I especially like the Core studies and DeviantArt has some great macro shots of ears, eyes, noses, jawlines, and lips. /ic/ also has reference threads about three times a week and conceptart.org is threatening to overload me with awesome lately.

I do a lot of different stuff right now. But that's chill. Better luck next time, 荒らし の_の!

Nope, you like shooting off your mouth trying to get a response to a simple kit that I gave to the community. No one is forcing you to use it. If you don't like my art, that's all well and fine. You can just ignore this topic.

The very definition of an internet troll is someone using heavily veiled sarcasm and intentional idiocy. I'm actually an active part of this community, in both commercial and noncommercial projects. Are you? If you are, sign in under your true name and address me instead of hiding like the anonymous coward you are.

I'm not afraid to speak my mind or what people think of me. They'll either like me or they won't, and I'm not going to change who I am to please them.

But I'm actually glad you brought your points up, because it's a topic I want to blog about in the future: elitism within fandoms and how it narrows the mind and makes it subject to prejudice. And you unintentionally helped me organize my thoughts a little more, so thank you very much for that. Tell me, what exactly is it about 3D that makes it not art?

Can you answer me that, with educated rhetoric and a logical discussion? I love a good intellectual debate so let's go. In fact, I'd like to open up the subject for everyone:
What's style? What's taste? What do you think is real art and why? Where does one line end and the other begin?

An opportunity to feel the trolls. Ignore him and he will go away.

Apologies if the guest is female.

If you absolutely must give the trolls attention by mentioning them (as I am doing now), the correct pronoun is "it".
