I remember downloading this awhile back and then never figuring out how to make it do anything other than make a nice big lake. >.> It is beautiful, though.

Usually for scenery, I build up my scene in Bryce or Google SketchUp, then trace color it all in Photoshop so it doesn't stand out as obviously 3D'd.

Whoa, they updated their website finally.

For an example of a VN that uses Sketchup, Terragen, and Photoshop, see Daemonophilia.

JT also inadvertently clued us in to using Poser as well. Now if only the different file formats were compatible, it would be nice to import it all into Bryce, then trace-paint in Photoshop. Whola! Easy art in the proper perspective.

Or... I can go back to Uni and study art the proper way and spend thousands of dollars. Most folks from middle-class background tend to avoid Arts & Sciences in favor of something more practical, like engineering. But what the hell... the economy sucks for everyone regardless nowadays.

There is no one right way to do art...

But...

I would have never used 3D as a crutch.

You do realize that I only started doing it after 5-8 years of already doing figure drawing (lolfiguredrawing—that's not what it's usually called—) and backgrounds, right? So, what I'm saying is, you might learn things a little slower than if you were to lrn2vanishingpoint and lrn2anatomy in that same amount of time.

@ Mugenjohncel: You could also try out Vue from Eon-software.

Actually, I believe Terragen has been linked on the OELVN wiki's resource list for pretty long already: http://wiki.renai.us/wiki/Graphics_Tools ^^

For interiors, check out Sweet Home 3D: http://www.sweethome3d.eu/index.jsp
