^_^ But only text-based, right? Or... did I miss something?
Not at all ^_^
Oh, and a friend of mine started that thread when I complained to him that no one cared about MetBlues on dl.com That's what friends are for, aren't they?
I'm sorry if I did sound ofensive.... (I was in a bad day) I don't mean to offend anyone with that comment . It's just that I've seen many good games being "bombed" beacuse they don't have Hentai..... Most of those reviews say that the game is good only that it lacks hentai.
Now.... there are really good games that have Hentai on them, I'm not questioning that. The point is that you can't please everyone.... but people have to take in point what they are playing.... like "this game isn't supposed to have Hentai, since it is more focused in history and tematics".
After all it's a VN, non-eroge game.

I really have to 100% agree with this.
A game review/summary that goes like "The game is great, only it has no sex in it.", even though out of context - does feel strange. Have you ever complained about a movie that "it's good but it has no sex"?
Yes I KNOW that it is because all that eroge/bgame traditionally having sex scenes, but it does sound ridiculous when a group of players expects sex in their games regardless of the story that's being told.
Moreover like GLACIER pointed out, you get into a cycle of having to include sex scenes if you want to stay competitive.
Completed: Metropolitan Blues, The Loyal Kinsman, Daemonophilia, The Dreaming, The Thirteenth Year, Adrift, Bionic Heart 2, Secrets of the Wolf, The Photographer
Projects: The Pilgrim's Path, Elspeth's Garden, Secret Adventure Game!

No offense taken. I'm actually quite proud of my skills as a writer of erotic fiction, so I probably COULD do an eroge if I wanted to. MetBlues was originally supposed to have four explicit scenes relating to the three paths and the best ending, but I dropped them as they didn't really fit the mood. Except for the last one which became a deleted scene

Even some commercial games do this, for example Kana- Little Sister. The sex scenes in that game IMO really didn't match the mood or the story at all. (In fact an XBOX version was planned with no ecchi, because obviously the story didn't need it at all.)
I have no problem with ecchi (even like it if well done ) but I prefer story over sex scenes anyday. I liked True Love 95 back in the day. It had story and all you got with a girl was fanservice until you were involved in their story, and even then, the scenes matched the mood of the game.
G-Collections I think is the worst about promoting bishoujo games as nothing but porn, and those types of games are some of the only ones many people see when shown the genre. "X-Play" has done segments on bishoujo games before and they only showed hentai examples, so it isn't surprising the "what, no sex?" question comes up in reviews.

I agree with that one. And "back in the day" there was Seasons of Sakura, really a good game - except for the compulsory H-scenes in the end that had absolutely no reason to be there. Yeah... well... except for selling the game, of course... ^_^;;;;
I remember Season of the Sakura. IF a game is going to have hentai in it, the game should be like True Love or Season of the Sakura, as both are excellent games, even is you take the hentai scenes out. It's sad when someone buys a game just on the basis of whether it's got hentai or not. I think one of the reasons I liked SoS so much was because it had an actual story and the characters were belivable, where as some of the games where hentai is prominent seems to be *a shell of a story and lots of hentai*...I'll stick with story and background. People are far more likely to stick with a game that has a story behind it over a game that is more or less just a bunch of hentai pictures.
A friend is one that walks in when the world walks out.

Which teaches us that the best way to sell/spread a game is to have a great story and hentai. People looking for a good story will be willing to accept the H scenes, and H-addicts will be willing to accept having to click through a story. :)))))))
Just kidding. Not planning any Hentai for my game. Not even text-based. :)

Question: Will the ren'ai archives host a fanmade game with erotic scenes for those 18+ or is it strictly like a "PG-13" rating?
Also, 4chan has a monopoly on idiots, I believe ... so don't mind them ... I thought Metropolitan Blues was wonderfully touching, played through to 5 of the 8 endings, second only to Narcissus in its emotional power.

IIRC the policy is that we will do so, but only if the game has a serious Ren'Ai component, rather than being just mindless hentai, like many of the games on newgrounds. This is a subjective judgement that we'd have to make after considering a new game.
There may be some other issues, too. I'd probably want to create a h.renai.us for h games to live on, and probably use something like the coral cache to lessen the bandwidth hit. But we're not fundamentally opposed.

Alas... not so. Idiots are to be found everywhere. (Except here... we're under the radar, it seems.)

Exactly my point. I'm happy I was finally able to explain my opinion.
Pytom -> *points to Blue Lemmas Idiot blocker MKII* Are you talking about that?
