Google Webfonts in Games

#1 Post by PyTom » Mon May 24, 2010 12:53 am

As you may know, Google just released a bunch of open source fonts, through their webfonts initiative. The .ttf files for these fonts can be found in google's project hosting service, here.

I suspect many of these fonts could be useful in games.

Perhaps you could add them to RenPy? And then in the option, users could choose what kind of font to be used in their games.

Thank you for the link. These are truly special fonts indeed.

There's a window on that, though. I suspect that in a year from now, we're going to start seeing these fonts all over the web. That's why google open-sourced them, after all.

Come to think about this in a rather cynical way I don't see source code for these anywhere. I guess CC is a closer term. I like the term open source too though.

I just noticed that Google has open-sourced a bunch more fonts. What's more, there's now a download tab in their webfont viewer, so there's no need to go into their source code archive to find them.
