@sayuri
Maybe what you could do is Indent for each branching point? That way everything will be able to stay within a single document and it should be nice to look at. This method is especially great if you're using a writing program that has auto indenting.

That's what I'm wondering, too. How do you do branching points? There are a lot of games on here I've seen that have some really deep branches. How do you keep track of what is connected to what? Also, how do you keep track of what happens at a certain time/day like in some of the dating sims without getting confused?

Yes, but how do you translate all that into script/screenplay form?

Ah, the classics... (wistful sigh)
Some of my best stories have started that way.

For myself, I've been a novelist for a few too many years to give up on the format now, but I like the VN feel, and it seems to allow a few things I'd spend a few days and several thousand words trying to get across(not that I mind, I rather like a good mental exercise). Either way, I'm writing in Novel form, and then the bulk of the dialogue can be just cut and pasted into Renpy. Get the visual assets, sound, etc, and make sure you have at least one ending that's going to be a pain to get to, and you're all set :P
I'm going to get off my soap-box now, and let you get back to your day.

I write first-person, present tense, directly into Ren'py. I think when I was originally starting out I tried to start in Word and just couldn't do it. For some reason Ren'py helps me cut up the sentences so that there isn't a lot of annoying text at once. Also, as I don't have many sprites or backgrounds yet, I just try to add little hash notes like "The next day, this happens" before that part of my script so that I can find it easily. Most of the time I'll imagine the sprites as I'm going, but I plan to make them to fit the script, not the other way around. ^_^
