The amount you don't read the threads you're supposedly interested in is stunning. You're being accused of not doing research because you're trying to sell VNs and yet you apparently didn't even recognise the name of a VN which is probably in the top five most-famous-VNs-right-now-in-the-West list.

It's like you're trying to set up a car manufacturing company and claiming you've researched the market and just asked "who are Honda? links?".

I personally had "I'm selling RPGs everyone! Can you tell me what Final Fantasy 7 is? I've never heard of this phenomenon! Links?" in mind.

I would say that a small portion of the posters here could be considered domain experts, but the majority are not. It is a somewhat tricky thing to determine, especially when there is a lot of overlap between subjects. An indy game domain expert is not necessarily a VN domain expert, for example.

Really, playtime depends on the person who's playing it. That's why when people ask me 'how long does it take to finish your game' I say 'it depends on the player.' If all you're going to do is scroll through the dialog and not read it, then of course it will take you considerably shorter to finish a VN game. Then again, there are people out there who read fast, so you also have to take that into consideration. I think I understand now why there is an omake (extra/bonus) section in almost every Japanese VN I've played. Each time you play the game, you have a chance of unlocking new CG art. It's a great way to entice people to want to play the game again. I've seen English VNs do that, too.
