adding scenes to 1 language version but not another

#1 Post by kuroi » Sun Oct 24, 2010 3:02 pm

hey out there in Renpy land~

I've been working on an update to an older game of mine that I realized needed some real help. The game is gonna be released as a dual-language english/japanese release. As part of this update, I've been thinking of adding a scene or two to the game. However, I don't really have the money to get translation done for the japense versions of these scenes. So, I was wondering what you guys thought I should do? Should I add a english only scenes to the game or just leave them out entirely?

As I've been thinking about it, it seems unfair to have something in the english version which is not in the japanese version but at the same time, isn't it better that someone get to enjoy the scene rather than no one? I really don't know what is best here.

I think you should allow both if you can. If that's too much work maybe bundle them together or release it with the bonus material in both [ie the images files and such cept the rpy] and make it so that it can be patched later.

Either that, or find a translator that works for cheap. Depending on how accurate you want it, even a student can do what you need. In fact, I just happen to know one...
I'm going to get off my soap-box now, and let you get back to your day.

Oh yeah? If I could find someone pretty cheep then I could actually dodge the whole problem... I'd be interested to talk to the person. Wanna get ahold of me via PM or email to chat about it?
