You do have a good point. I think it should be okay to draw in any style. I was just asking because I have been having a hard time deciding. I like drawing in both styles. :)

I think it's better if you go with your own style, rather than trying to fit in with the majority, as drawing in a style that is not your own, In my opinion, doesn't come naturally and may have an affect on the quality of the finished product and how motivated you are to draw. I personally prefer to draw in a more manga style as I find it attractive and it's what I have most practice in. However, this aside, the art style can really have a large impact on the atmosphere of a VN. More realistic styles create a more serious mood, where as a very cartoon like one would make it seem more light-hearted, and perhaps not work too well with a dark story line. Although a lot of people would say that art is not important and the quality of the story is what makes a VN good, I think the art really does have an impact on how a story comes across to the player.

This is all very true. I guess what I should do is just experiment and see what feels best to me, eh?

Speaking of which, love your icon! Very pretty!

I completely understand your issue here. I also draw in a variety a styles pretty equally. When I'm doodling in class I usually go between manga style and the style you can see in my avatar. I ended up choosing manga/anime style for my current VN, and even developed it so it would have a certain look that I felt went with the the story and genre of fairytale. But I do know I'd like to do one in my own unique style when I get a chance to.

That's what it looks like I'm going to be doing as well. Since the game I'm making is cutesy, I figured a cutesy anime style would suit it better than my usual style.

I definitely would like to see you do something in your usual style, too. Your style is great. :D <3
