Updates from me~

Rapunzel is going to be released under Happy Backwards now which is exciting.

The first draft of the script is finished, it runs at about 7000 words, but I'm adding a few more scenes in so it'll probably run about 10,000 words when it's done.

The sprites are also complete, sans their expressions. Rapunzel's sprite is now my avatar so you can get a glimpse of them XD.

Currently on vigorous editing stage of the script.

I have an KN idea for NaNoRenO, and I've been starting on writing it in Ren'Py, but I'm wondering whether I should write it as a normal short story and sub it to appropriate markets instead. That would definitely put it out of the running for this year's NaNo, though.

So... we just decided that working in full screen 800x600 has horrible resolution and, since we have the original sizes, that we should upgrade to a larger resolution. >.<; A moment where deciding between quality and time is going to result in me hurting.

Half the time I'm running VNs on my NetBook so I actually would like that resolution. :)

I run on 1600x900 while drawing/working and 1366x768 on my netbook when I'm not, so 800x600 works surprisingly fine for me.

No! Bad! It's not ten years ago, don't use tiny 4:3 resolutions!

During one of the last conversations about this, 1024x640 was given as the ideal, and I think it's still basically true: since it's 16:9, scales very well on netbooks because it's close enough to 1024x576, and fits in a window on a 1024x768 screen. But the important thing is, whatever resolution you go with, make it widescreen!

But but but. 640x480 is godly resolution and I don't like the massive letters people use in their modren VNs.

If I finish a novel for this, it'll be in 640x480!

How about we split the difference and say 640x400? I can't see how that could possibly go wrong!

D:< THIS COULD HAPPEN YOU KNOW. (it's cutting off the image, sadfays, so this'll stay in 640x480. I'll consider a compromise in 640x400 for the NaNo project...!)

For some reason, whenever I draw something in widescreen that's not going to be my wallpaper, it feels too wide Dx;
I think for full screen games it works, but it still feels weird when playing on windowed mode Dx

My characters took a vote and they want to stay at 800x600.

(That might be because I told them they wouldn't be drawn in any other resolution. :) )

4 Sprites done! Looking at all of them together makes me realize that my sprites are getting smaller as I draw them. :(

There will be no sleep for me tonight. I will indeed be working full steam to start and finish a project. I have an idea buzzing around in my head, and hopefully I can contact my artist friend tonight to get things started.

This will be fun!

Oh, also, where do you sign up? -_-
Projects:
Alone- (Horror/Sci-Fi) Complete! Link
Demokratiya- (Adventure/Action) I'm kind of winging it with this one. Goal is 100,000 words. Yeah, it's gonna take a while.

Well, after a good night's sleep and some thought, I'm going to commit that story to NaNoRenO after all :D

My own netbook has a resolution of 1024x600. Anything outside that in either dimension seems to work, but scaled down and letterboxed accordingly if it isn't the same ratio (e.g. 1280x600, 1024x640). Ren'Py is nice like that, at least. Some programs just don't work.

I was working at 800x600, but now I'm wondering if I should jump to 1024x600 instead before I commit to creating art assets. To widescreen, or not to widescreen? That is the question...

@Cloudyssky - I think you can just jump in, especially since you aren't looking for an established team to work with.
