Hello guys. I wanted to introduce you to my work, still in development: General Practitioner.

As the name suggests this is a game where you will be impersonating a medical doctor who works and manages a small clinic in a small town.
The style is that of a visual novel, but it has elements of an RPG (choices WILL matter as you progress into the story. Plus it will feature an inventory management), of a simulation and of management.

You will meet many characters, not just the patients (which are all scripted and each one will be dateable) but also staff members, occasional acquaintances and more.
You will earn money for each visit and with that you'll have to pay your staff and medical instruments. More instruments will unlock more patients (Dermatology, Pediatrics, Gynecology, etc. etc.).

The medical part is a simulation. I'm working with a real doctor, friend of mine, who tells me what happens in medical clinics (Italian ones, since I'm Italian) and all the medical informations are real.
My inspiration are the old medical simulations like the "Emergency Room series" from Legacy Games.

Of course the game will feature sex and nudity. But you won't be able to just fuck everything that moves, because you could scare patients away and the clinic could close due to debts.
Being a doctor, though, is a good way to make people undress, but that depends on the purpose of the exam, the patient's trust in you and even their mood.

The game is still in development, I began working on it some weeks ago (I'm all by myself) and right now the introduction and the first medical examination is complete. I expect to release a pre-pre-pre-pre-pre alpha version in a few days. Since I work and have a family I can't put all my spare time on the project, but progress is smooth, since I'm a programmer and writing code is on my genetics :D

Please share your thoughts. It's a pre-alpha build which includes the intro, Erika and Rita characters, one full examination. Point system is already there but still not useful, so it is the money system.

In the next version I will add graphics (the guy at the bus stop), another examination (Clara) and improvements to the user interface (i want to make players click on a hotspot instead than choosing a text option)

I think the entire concept of impersonating a doctor and using that as an excuse for lewd things, will come off as more creepy than fun. It might be played for laughs if it was a one off gag, but basing an entire game about it is definitely weird due to real life criminal cases of doctors who took secret photos of their patients. It's basically in poor taste, and you'd be chasing away any audience who is purely interested in the medical simulation bits, while the audience who likes the nudity doesn't particularly care about the simulation anyway.

Ultimately since the game is in 3D, most likely the stronger part of the game will be the simulation and not the nudity, since most people who play VNs are looking for the 2D anime kind. I highly suggest you make the main character an actual doctor and remove any nudity of patients. Make the nurses dateable instead, it makes a lot more sense as they have more time to get to know each other, and lets you have a more realistically diverse set of patients. But remove any 18+ stuff because odds are people won't care too much about it if it's not 2d high quality anime art, so it will just be a net detriment.

I think you misunderstood me.

While in the medical examination room the nudity is always aimed to the simulation part. I mean, you will actually "visit" the patients and for that it could be that they need to be naked or not. It's up to the player to see that as part of the exam or not (not the character, the player).

The main character can't harass his patients, but he can behave like a true professional or like a scoundrel (in a "City Hunter" way, if you know what I mean), and his charming methods could pick the interest of both male and female patients he meets.

The nudity part is never pornographic during the exams, but it's functional to the simulation. It would eventually become "pornographic" in the protagonist's bedroom once he dates someone (and dating a patient, for a doctor, is not a crime at all I think).

Finally, the world is not a 3D free to roam but is vn-like. In the game (you'll see that soon) you will meet many other characters other than the patients that you can interact with. It's entirely up to the player to shape the main character. Will he be an estimeed professional or a criminal that will ruin the clinic?

While I was developing 0.0.1a I wasn't sure how to manage the players' choice of events. Having them choose every day what to do via dialogue lines didn't seem to fit in properly. Adding hotspots in scenarios could have worked, but I think it will take very long time to develop properly and, more important, without mistakes on my part.
So I found over the net this fantastic script from qirien (kudos, mate): viewtopic.php?f=51&t=31571 and I'm implementing it in my game.

Starting with 0.0.2 the players will have the ability to choose what to do every day. More and more options will be added in time, for now you'll have the options above avalaible.
I'm also rewriting the code to have it being controlled by events instead of variable checks. While this is fairly an invisible feat for the players it will allow me to manage the code and writing the game much better.

I'm already working to the next version.

I have made some modifications. This is the uncomplete changelog aas of today:

* Revamp of user interface
* Added "History" of previous conversations
* Added calendar with days, months and holidays (events will be added in future updates)
* Added scheduler to choose which activity to perform each morning/afternoon/evening
* Added 4 new stats: charm, integrity, knowledge and clinic fame
* Added 5 new activities like relax, hang out, study, explore city
* Added Jack (unknown guy at bus stop) images
* Revamped medical examinations:
- Medical examinations will be a part of gameplay excluded from sexual activities
- You can engage in sexual activities with patients if you meet and hang out with them out of the clinic.
- Of course if a patient already knows you there could be many special events to unlock
- There still will be nudity on medical exams but only to check the patient.
* In the first three medical examination the player will receive a hint of wether you are performing good or bad on most of the choices

Every release of my game is FREE and always will be. Patreon is just something to try to finance new programs and templates, not the main goal. I'm doing this game for myself and for whoever wants to try it.

Before I release 0.0.2 I want to complete the rendering overhaul, add at leats a picture to every activity avalaible (relax, study, hang out, work, explore city) and add a new patient with a complete examination of them.

That's likely to happen over the weekend so expect a new release on monday morning, This release will be a better example of what to expect from the full game once it's complete.

The game will feature a full in-game year experience. Holidays and special events will be covered and there will be some drama too. Of course you won't have to visit two patients each day, that would be boresome, but expect some surprises every time you choose to go to work.

I'm very excited about the whole development. In my mind this will be more than the usual indie visual novel and you'll be surprised by the simulation part too.
Of course I won't get very far without your comments about the game and the direction it takes at every release, so try the game if you wish and tell me everything you think about it!

In 0.0.2 which will be released on monday 05/22 I will introduce the Codex. It will be some sort of Encyclopedia that will contain informations about patients you visit, staff you hire and even medical conditions and guidelines. This are written in collaboration of a true doctor, but should never replace the advice of your personal family physician.
In time the Codex will contain many more informations and while the medical infos are avalaible from the start, the patient and staff ones will be avalaible only when you actually meet a person.
Plus, some infos will be avalaible only if you correctly assess the illness of the patient, if any, and will remain hidden if you don't.

Before the day ends I will post a "road map" of the future contents and releases. For now I'd like you to enjoy this new version of my game and, more important, to tell me if you like it, where I need to improve it and if you find any bugs please report them to me! It's the only way I have to release a very good full game!

Not everyone wants to deal with sex scenes, family time, hanging out with friends and so on... Somebody just wants to play the medical examinations without worrying about the staff, the incomes and everything else.

It's for these people that I've made two game modes avalaible starting with 0.0.3:

- STORY MODE is the complete experience of General Practitioner. You will live as doctor and manage your time between your job and your free time.

- EXAMINATION MODE is the game focused only on the medical examinations. You will visit one patient after another without all the other game elements (4 examinations will be avalaible in 0.0.3)

You will be able to choose your game mode after the initial interview with Dr. Kirkman (also introduced in 0.0.3)

0.0.3 will be out:

- June 5th for $20 patrons

- June 12th for $10 patrons

- June 19th for $5 patrons

- June 30th for the general public

In case you're wondering how far I am into the development of the next alpha version for the game here's the changelog as of today.
In the list everything marked as "D" before the "*" is actually "Done", while the other things are in development.

D* Corrected some grammar errors in dialogues
D* Added two game modes:
- STORY MODE is the complete experience of General Practitioner. You will live as doctor [player_name] [player_surname] and manage your time between your job and your free time
- EXAMINATION MODE is the game focused only on the medical examinations. You will visit one patient after another without all the other game elements.
D* Added interview with dr Kirkman at start of game
D* Added a new stat: Sexperience
- Sexperience will determine the outcome of many sexual-related events. You may acquire sexperience by choosing certain dialogue paths or attending certain locations or events
D* Added marital status for the player character
D* Added sister/cousin for the player character
- The story arc will begin any morning after May 8th if no other events take priority and only if you choose "Clinic" as your morning's activity
- You will receive a phone call from your sister/cousin telling you she's coming to your place with her daughter
- They will arrive after 2 days from the phone call
- A new activity "Family Time" will be avalaible until they are your guests. This activity unlocks some events with them.
- It is possible, if a week since their arrival has passed and you didn't select "Family time" activity that some of the events will never occur
- If no special events are happening you will still increase your bond with your sister/family every time you choose "Family Time"

* Added many options to flirt with a patient in the examination room. These options won't be present in the "Vanilla" game mode (see previous point)
