@Nische, thank you, we hope you end up liking it :) Though, technically this will be our third project now since we have complete 2 in the meantime (first commercial one still though). We hope to get this done before the year is out so we are both working very hard towards that goal!

We haven't decided if this guy is actually Ryou yet, but I thought I'd experiment with side sprite styles and this is the first place in the story where a tertiary character appears, so...

Not really sure about this... My main issue is with where to position the name box. D: Any suggestions?

That... looks better than I expected. I was thinking there was going to be a clash of styles with me changing, but it still ties okay together XD

The name box is going to be a problem, hmmm. Maybe have it where is normally is and right align for side sprites? I don't know if that would look weird or not >_>

This is random classmate C, which just leaves Ryou, or classmate A depending on who I like more as Ryou.

New Background. I've arranged an agreement with Samu-kun to use some of his photos of Japan as bases for the backgrounds, which is excellent news. Thank you again Samu-kun, they will be a great help.

I'm still tweaking the colours a bit, but I need to walk away from it for a bit so I can get a fresh perspective~ It's a bit over-saturated at the moment compared to the others.

Another background done. Something else I should mention is that we have decided to do individual sprite tinting. What we have been doing previously is place a tinted layer over a whole scene, so all the sprites had an orange tint in sunset scenes for instance. This is a generally easy way, but restricted in what I could do since I could only use opacity vs the layer modes in photoshop. So now I'm going to be giving each sprite a tinted layer that is specifically suited to a scene. Which means each sprite will be getting adjustment layers for each background for each light variation. Yep. It will be a little fiddlely and I won't be able to do them until a) I have all the backgrounds and sprites finished and b) Camille tells me specifically who is going to be where when (or in the case of main characters, may not be somewhere). It's extra work, but it should look really, really nice. Also figured out that we will probably have to have a set of close-up sprites for when the characters are, ah, closer to the camera? The example below is a very quick and dirty example, but it get the idea across.

Photoshop CS5 :) (I use a tablet as well, which is probably obvious, a Wacom Intuos 3)

Judging by the light, I'm guessing afternoon? Middays tend to have a more lemon-yellow light, I think.
