Base price for a VN like this is usually $20 with discounts available for people who do fanarts or blog posts or the like, but nothing is ever certain until the whole thing is complete. :)

progress report - rough end of Callum's route now reached.

The game contains 6,312 screens of dialogue.
These screens contain a total of 94,174 words,
for an average of 14.9 words per screen.
The game contains 48 menus.

One major route left to go.

And I will again be seeking testers interested in Callum's route.
It helps to be a verifiable previous customer, have some demonstrable literary experience, and be interested in Callum. :) Need people who can notice contradictions and shifts in the plot over time because it's been quite a while since I started this thing...

I only cover one of these. Guess which. :D

Two if you count the writings I have on deviantArt and Elements: The Academy as "demonstrable literary experience".

I have written: http://lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/viewto ... 16&t=15979

I have edited (as is acknowledged) the opening post of: http://lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/viewto ... 43&t=15485

I would edit any game text, truly.

PM me if interested.

Click to continue indicators. I *hate* them, personally. But I'm experimenting with one to see how it goes. I've put together a little golden crown-trap that opens and closes. The question is, where should it sit? The traditional place is in the lower right corner of the textbox, but there's a (small) chance of overlapping with text in some instance, and with all the frills on the box itself it's easy to miss. Because this is widescreen, I also have a bunch of empty space over on the right side. It could go there, but should it? And if so, should it be larger?

*finishes fangirl-ing at the pretty arts after 30 mins*

I think the textbox is a little too short/small - but I'm probably too used to the traditional textbox which covers up literally the whole quarter of the bottom screen ...

I'm happy with my textbox for the moment. :) (But you wouldn't believe how many iterations it went through to become that!) It can be a struggle to read comfortably (for my eyes at least) if they get super-wide, which is a risk in widescreen-mode games like this. For the same reason, my NVL-mode text only covers a bit over half the screen.

In my current test, for the NVL dialog I'm nestling the CTC up against the end of the NVL text, but that doesn't work quite as well with ADV dialog, to my eye. It's hard to be sure though because I always find CTCs kinda distracting.

... Anyway, I'd appreciate feedback from people who actually DO like CTCs. :) Nestled at the end of the last word of text? In the corner of the textbox? In the corner of the screen?

EDIT:
(Well, for lack of answers at the moment I'll nestle them after the text and put a switch in preferences so you can turn them off.)

Been slow here lately due to things like being sick and trying to deal with the contest stuff (which IS making progress) so here, have a tiny preview glimpse of your protagonist, who is NOT an otome doormat :)

Personally, I like the idea of a click to continue indicator, but not if they are huge or overly animated. I like the idea of an option for one even more.

OH MY. I THINK I LIKE THIS PROTAGONIST ALREADY.

And now a rough completion of Oscar's path, so I will be looking for beta readers again

The game contains 7,581 screens of dialogue.
These screens contain a total of 111,256 words,
for an average of 14.7 words per screen.
The game contains 57 menus.

I still have a lot to do (and the art is nowhere near finished) so the actual *release* is still a good way off.
