Glad to hear it! We'll try to keep you excited.

Some great news guys, I've been working with the lovely and talented Nische about doing potential GUI designs. We should have some new works in progress coming along soon, but in the mean time aside from waiting on Backgrounds and a bit of writing the first game is completely finished after the GUI is in place. If all goes well, I plan on releasing the game (or something like it) by the end of the month.

I should be releasing some details of the music soon as well as it's well on its way towards being done as well.

Yay, we're on the second page now! I'll be done with the story part of the first game today so things are going relatively well on my end.

Thank you all for your continued interest. You can see things like updated word counts and stuff on my end from my blog: TangerineTriangle or my writing twitter: RiceforBrunch.

Haha, at the moment they're mostly complaining and word counts, but they're pretty up to date. I just posted a word count on my twitter actually. So check them out if you're interested.

It's still in the process of being debugged all the way though, but I thought I'd start to give a peek at the new GUI elements we've added to Culina thanks to the lovely and very talented Nische!

Would love to hear any and all feedback, as I get more stuff I'll let you know. :-)

Just an update on the writing end for people~! The Spirit of Cooking is done with the story part of the writing. There's still coding to be done, as mentioned by netravelr, but we're getting there :]

At the moment it's just shy of 12k words. There might be a last minute addition to change that later on, but I think that it's a pretty satisfying length for a free game. There's only one ending, but you can still make some choices.

I have a question though for people who drop by this thread. Does this game count as a kinetic novel? There are several short term choices, but there's only one ending so I don't know if it's kinetic or not.

I'm looking forward to this game :D The managment part looks really fun and involved~ I love doing recipe and cooking type games, it's one of my favourite things in RPGs XD
The art is gorgeous, I love the clean lineart and the soft colours. The way the eyes are draw are so pretty as well. I adore Katie already. Look how cute she is!

That being said, the choices you make do have ramifications in the second game if you decide to bring your save file over. I'm still coding that functionality in, but I'm fairly confident that won't be a problem.

I'll try not to let you down, I'm really excited about the game and as time goes on I'll deeper into the systems being used, but right now we're pushing to get "The Spirit of Cooking" out as soon as we possibly can. Still haven't heard from the BG artist, but we'll do what we can and if I have to, I'll release the game with the backgrounds we're currently using and replace them in a future version.

Cheers!

We have some fantastic news! The lovely and talented Nische has been helping on the title doing some additional art as well as redesigning the game's GUI.

Here's a look at the new main menu:

And the preferences screen:

(The logo has not yet been completely finalized, I'd love any and all feedback)

That being said, the story has been received for The Spirit of Cooking so as soon as I get all of my backgrounds in, we will be ready to go. That being said, I will soon be wanting to get some proofreaders to get feedback on the story, choices, and any grammatical errors they find.

I'm sure she's going to love hearing that, especially from you! She's been great to work with so far; I've really enjoyed it.

Also since I updated the pics on the main page, I wanted to include something new here so...

I feel like that textbox is too small and doesn't really fit with the game... something bigger will allow more text on the screen. All that space to the left and the right makes me uncomfortable >_>

I hear you,

The game is at a larger resolution than normal games so that may be why the textbox is too small, and as you play the game, more features become unlocked which means more of the screen is taken up for gameplay purposes. So, I decreased the font size by a tad, so that will fit more text onto the screen for you, but in general I don't want to force people to read walls of text, however the UI is a frame so it will size itself appropriately depending on the amount of words being used. Cheers!

I'll just sit here and silently pray that Dante is a dateable character.

Hmm, this looks really neat. Though I agree the textbox is strange (looks like a textbox inside another textbox inside another textbox with all this free space and these 3 frames )

I see nothing about the music/the composer in the first post, will this game have some ?

Well, this is just BxG at the moment, but if part 2 sells well, we mii~ght pull something like P3P and make a version when you're a girl and chasing after the guys. I'm hoping it happens since Dante is totally my favorite >///<

But, I'll just say that Dante isn't in The Spirit of Cooking, or our first planned release so you'll have to wait a bit to see anything with him.

Ziassan, I'm not in charge of those aspects so I can't really say what we're doing 100% with music, but we do have a few tracks composed last I checked. Are you interested in being involved or something? I know we don't have a full soundtrack....

And for the textbox, I'm sure it'll look less out of place when all of the aspects are included. There's at least one sidebar so I think that'll help fill in the space.

Right now I'm playing the waiting game with the BGs, but aside from that the first game is completed, which is very exciting.

As of right now, we have a set of songs composed for the game, but I am always on the lookout for other possibilities.
