Submerged is a short SciFi Story about some survivors in an underwater station which are woken up previous to their appointed time. They get in contact with each other and search for access to the central core to find out why they woke up early and possibly to find a way to the surface.
Image
It started as a small test project to learn the orders used in renpy and I learned quite a bit while making it. The story is rather simple and despite the choices there aren't really different paths but the way you act changes in many instances the dialog and reactions of the survivors you interact with, as well as the possible choices that you can use at the very end of the game. I tried to do the backgrounds by myself instead of using filtered photos and I think it went rather good for the fact that I can't even draw a straight line. The Character Art are still just placeholders a friend of mine is working on drawing and coloring the characters but she needs some time for that of course.

The game has 6 characters in whole, the Viewpoint Character yourself which is dynamic and can be given any name and can be a man or a woman.

The 4 important Characters that you interact with are:
Image
Dr.Mentzel an 60 years-old history professor who sometimes is a bit antiquated in his thought process but nonetheless a kind and mature person.
Image
Zimmermann is around 45, a direct and downright arrogant man but if you let him do his thing he than he can accomplish quite a bit.
Image
Franziska is a brash young woman who prefers to search for solutions rather with brawn than brain. She is very confident and headstrong.
Image
Ayla is a young and amiable woman who watches over a little kid named Marcel who was woken up, too. She tries to help where she can by boosting the morale.
Since English isn't my first language I would appreciate any critic regarding spelling and grammar. As well as tips and critics regarding design choices like text color, writing style for the characters and the use of menus because I used an awful lot for such a short game. I'm eager to learn and get better for my next VN Project. The game itself is nearly finished except for the character art and the incorporation of them into the game script.

Here the demo for all systems:

It is my very first VN and I'm glad that I came this far, I invented the story on the fly while writing the script, so it isn't very long.

Statistics:

The game contains 597 screens of dialogue.
These screens contain a total of 5,985 words,
for an average of 10.0 words per screen.
The game contains 17 menus.

The sounds I used are all from free sound libraries.

I like how dark the overall tone is, it's creepy in a good way- It makes it look like the characters are really in a confined space.

Your grammar is fine (better than most native english speakers on the internet...) and this is really impressive for a first work.

Will definitely play the demo- Thanks.

Thanks for the praise and the interest :D

I went over the scripts once again with the new spell checking feature and I hope it is free of errors new. Uploaded the spell-checked version and added it in the opening post.

My friend promised me to give me the first sprite this weekend, so hopefully I can show you the first finalized character sprite in a bit.
