So... I can't decide. I'm partial to the sai shading because that's what I usually do for sprites, but the cel shading is refreshing >_<


Photoshop cel is on the left, and sai is the right.

Also overlayed them on a background.

I like the celshading better, it looks like an anime x3

I agree with Deji, though, cel-shading does give it more of that straight-out-of-an-anime look. Even so, my vote's for sai. 0:

I prefer the SAI shading. I do really like the cell and I think it would work just fine, but the shading has a more finished and polished feel to it

@ Deji, Tori, Auro; so I took your thoughts into consideration, and had a little experiment.

I decided to try combining the techniques X'D And I think i'm finally happy with how they look. It (mostly) kept the anime look, but also added a bit of the finished look sai has without getting... too shiny? Also I added a few layers to the skin to make it look a tad more lively. I didn't realize but it looked a bit corpsey before OTL


I coloured Caelor the same way to make sure I could duplicate the effect (and also that it looked okay on other colours).

Your art is really, really pretty. :'D <3 I love the combination of the coloring styles of the new sprites!

This sounds amazing! The story is intriguing (I wanna know why he was exiled TT^TT), and the reliving the past is cool ^^. I'll defiintely keep and eye on this and certainly play it when it's finished. Good luck with everything.

Since I can FINALLY see the images (yay for crappy internet connection!) I definitely have to say I love your style. I like the sai shading, the cell shading looks a bit flat to me, but I also like the combo a lot, if I was you I'd consider using both.

I am not a super huge fan of BxB but I just love the character art

@ Razz, the sai colouring does have a bit more oomph, but I think maybe i'll stick with the combo... for this project at least :') I thought about it, and the sai colouring might go better with a different style of background that one one I intend to use.
