This is now closed as I have only just learned that you cannot use BassNovel art taken from the website, only use it on the website itself (You try working your way around that site, seriously). However in the future I may ask/find an artist to help me with it, for now my main interest is on Morte: Death's Kiss!





Hello, I have been lurking around and have spent the last two months using Novelty to make my first kinetic novel. I am working on it by myself, so progress is slowly but steady, I have currently completed over half of the game, and have another 6 chapters roughly to do - there are about 20 - 30 pages per chapter. Due to the nature of using Novelty I'm going to upload it in full once its finished so there will be no demo but I will upload with new screenshots often, it will probably be at most five to six minutes long upon completion.

Please bear in mind this is my first attempt at a kinetic novel, I am aware that the backgrounds may jump around a little and I have tried to be as consistent as possible with things such as the size of objects and characters by hand each time. All backgrounds, misc items and sprites used are from Bassnovel.com, a website where artists upload their work for free available use.

The plot:


You will read the life of Mika, relatively normal school student who barely manages to attend her classes by being dragged in everyday by her mild mannered neighbor Mihoshi. Mika does relatively well in her studies despite hating Gym, and spends her evening doing chores for Okaasan who works several part time jobs since her father left them.



At the weekend, Mika after an event (I will reveal only when you play it) hangs out with her best friend Yuki under the disguise and name Mikan. In school as Mika, she has a huge crush on Yuki and he had no idea that she exists, But one slip, and this will all change...

Continue to read as Mika and Yuki begin a tentative relationship first forged from mistaken friendship, but will Yuki be able to overcome the break of trust when Mika's betrayal is revealed?

I posted this pretty much just so people know that at some point before Christmas I will be posting a download link of this, I don't deem it anything to get excited about myself. It's just myself trying to get to grips with the Novelty engine in the hopes that I can make a longer, better VN in the future.

I hope you are having fun making your inetic novel, and that people enjoy reading it.

You know this already, but bassnovel can't be used anywhere outside their sites. You'll want to get your art resources another way...

This seems like an interesting KN, though. I wish you luck in creating it.

Ah, so sorry...I was not aware of this earlier. I apologize for my own ignorance! If possible, I would like to delete or 'lock' this thread - but I am unsure how?
Any further help would be great.

That's alright, it's a common mistake some people make.

You'll want to ask an admin or a mod to lock it or delete it. I guess you could PM one of them and ask them to do so.

You might want to continue making this game sometime in the future, so why not put it on hold or on hiatus or something?

A very good idea, thank you very much. I am also in the process of contacting several artists who I will wait to see if they are interested in the VN concept.
