Harmony [BxG] [Romance, Slice of life, School drama] (1/2)

I made my initial comment because I wanted to make sure you liked Boy x Girl(s) style stories and games, and to make sure you knew that other kinds of content can be created with Ren'py. Many of the early VNs created by English speaking fans had BxG pairings, but over the last few years, there has been an increase in other types of content. There are now a good number of fans who like Girl x Boy(s) pairings on this forum, as well as fans who like different pairings, or who prefer other kinds of stories.

Yeah, I noticed looking through the forums here. I've been asked a few times for GxG options on my current game, but didn't want to double the writing workload. :/

Yes!
We've been working mostly on the story as of late, which kinda limits all of the stuff we can post about.. Can't give the story away, y'know.

But now that the joys of the holidays are over, I hope to get everyone going back at full speed.

The most recent update on Tumblr mentions looking for voice actors. Are you sure you're dedicated enough to include even a small amount of voiced dialogue? Remember, it takes a huge amount of time, effort, and passion just to release a visual novel in complete form. I don't want to discourage you, but I do not think this is necessary.

If I may quote from the So You Want to Make a Visual Novel guide on TVTropes... "Unless you are a professional who can hire professional voice actors or miraculously have good amateur voice actors despite Sturgeon's Law, then please don't add voices. Good voice acting can enhance a Visual Novel, but anything less would ruin it. Let the reader imagine the voices like they would in a traditional novel if you're an amateur. "

We're looking for the last couple of VA's we need. All the ones we currently have are actually trained actors/actresses and I have some sound engineers ready to make sure everything sounds good.
I don't just want to create something easy, I'd like to always have more of a challenge than an easy win.

It has been pretty difficult getting even this far, I made some mistakes and learned from 'em. If the voice acting thing turns out absolutely horrible, I'll make an on/off toggle for it.
Since I'm not actually selling the game for a profit, I don't have to worry about losing a ton of money or anything from lack of sales either. This game was meant to be a bit of a stepping stone for the people involved, and well.. everyone has to start somewhere!

You know, I'm kind of getting the feeling that the Harmony team is far enough along that we don't need to try to convince them to change their plans.

Also, I'm biased towards the art - with the one problem that the older Rima looks like a scaled up version of young Rima. I'm pretty sure that the head has stopped growing by 14, but it looks bigger on the right than on the left.

Yeah, our artist was still focusing in on a style.. but now I hope we have ironed all of that out. He's a great artist and everything, but proper proportions and poses were a bit of a weakness for 'em.
