Will the player be made aware of statistics and variables? In other words, will there be on-screen text saying things such as "Your Intelligence has increased by 1" or "Your friendship with Bob has increased by 1"?

It's not a bad idea to use a lot of stats. If you want to create a short story with many branches and options, that's fine. Just as long as they're easy to understand. Improving them should not be a matter of random chance or constantly saving and loading.

First off, thanks a lot for your interest in the game.

In regards to your question, there will not be any on-screen displays of changing point values. Hopefully this will not be a letdown to players, but I chose to do it for two main reasons:

1. You do not need to keep track of your point values, because the choices are not so heavily weighed that it will determine pass/fail the outcomes of the game. It is meant to be played as a story that you dictate, not really quite like an RPG-style game. So far, the variables just occasionally give you side options or different routes, not really inherently dictate if you’ll succeed in the game or not. It’s pretty hard to describe.

2. All of the options are obvious, even if you are concerned about keeping track of point values. For instance “Going to church = Positive religious points” or “Watching a documentary = Positive intelligence points”, whereas “Not going to church = Negative religious points” and so on. It’s meant to be pretty straightforward.

About your second question, the game certainly has a lot of humor, and since it was made by teenagers for teenagers, it shows. “Vulgar” is kind of a strong term, and I won’t deny it because it was just made for fun and entertainment and is meant to be pretty lighthearted, but I don’t think that the “raunchiness” of some of the characters’ personalities will really jeopardize the plot or story.

Character Descriptions~!

These are the ones that I know I'm going to write romance paths for. I'll probably add a couple more, but it just depends on how lazy I get, haha. I'll put up some pics of the possible characters, and you can let me know if you're interested in seeing any paths with them. If there's interest, I'll do them(most likely for sure).

As for a status update~:
-Storyline: 30% (Slightly below 4,000 lines of coding)
-Graphics: 20% (Have pics for most of the storyline but need to download a program better than MS Paint to touch them up)
-Music: 10% (Since this VN's weird, most of the music isn't ambient soothing noises and such...it's hardcore rock >.<)
-Sound: 0% (Thinking about not doing sound, but who knows?)

I hope that you guys have a lot of fun playing this VN once it's completed. I know I'm having a lot of fun making it (that sounds terrible because VNs are mostly mindless coding). And after it's done, I'm going to need some beta testers if anyone's interested. :0 It's a pretty large game already, so it'd take some time to do.

Hope to get you kiddos' opinions on the character paths and beta testing soon~! ;D

It looks really interesting. I've been doing the vn thing for a while and I gotta say this looks special to say the least. I'm really interested in this "Cody King" guy. I think I'll be going down his path first when released. LOOKING FORWARD TO IT!!!! :)

Ha, thanks~! Yeah, it's definitely really different from most of the VNs on here, and I was thinking that it might be TOO different for people to actually like it. However, I'm glad that's not the case and that there are actually people looking forward to it^^ Cody King's definitely a fun path to go down, I started it yesterday and I think I'm going to get his actual input on how he would like it to turn out. Also, if you like him enough, he mentioned possibly making an account on here in the future, so you might have the chance to talk to "the real thing" XD haha

Wanted to put up an update on the progress of Bacon2. As of the latest Lint run, it's looking like this:

Statistics:

The game contains 4,202 screens of dialogue.
These screens contain a total of 37,373 words,
for an average of 8.9 words per screen.
The game contains 117 menus.

I think I should finally sum up the game, since I am getting a bit tired with it (since it has become so long!)

As for the endings and progress on those:

Completed
--Battle Endings
--Death While On Main Path Endings
--Strength, Cooking, Intelligence, Laziness, Wakefulness, and Religious Endings
--Hah-mez's Romantic Endings

In Progress
--Cody's Romantic Endings
--Sonic's Romantic Endings
--Shaniqua's Romantic Endings
--Short One's Romantic Endings
--Damien's Romantic Ending
--Jermama's Romantic Ending

So, what else needs to be done before the game is released of you kiddos to play?

So, as you can see, about 4,000-5,000 more words and a couple new menus.
Still working on summing up the game, so it should be heading home soon.

Basically done with the game. It's technically in need of some more beta-testing for random spelling errors and such but it should be playable. Posting it soon.
