Personally I don't mind profanity when I'm playing a VN - Kinda makes it seem more realistic IMO for some reason.
I do have a question about Miyahara Nanase though... Can i totally steal him? I swear I'll give him a good home! I mean look at him - he's just sooo adorable >.<

Hmm, again with my personal opinion, I don't think there's anything wrong with it, especially if you'll be using it as a defining feature for a character. If you are a little worried about it though, you could always just stick to the more commonly known slang terms if you get what I mean.

Would it make sense for this certain character to say profanity often?
Is he just an young angry teenager who can't clean his mouth with soap? It makes sense that he says bad words such as 'retard' and such if he has trouble keeping his dirty mouth shut.

If you're going for a character who acts like that, then its OK based on the media you're going for.
Just make sure to show that they are like that and dont make it feel forced. Don't be a shadow.

Also, don't let everyone go off saying 'Retard' and such unless they are all young angry teenagers who have a bad yapper as well.

Yup, of course not. They won't all be like that. It's pretty much only him, and he's the kind of character that's incapable of saying nice things.

I like it! It matches the color schemes of the characters better. The other backgrounds are kind of cluttered because of all the colors and it made the characters stand out less.

Writer's block isn't something you can fight against, I understand that and can only sympathize with you ^^ I'm currently in the same case and the only thing I could say is: "keep thinking about something else, multiply the experiences IRL and one day or another you'll think "hey I could add that to my visual novel!"" At least that's what I do and it works ^^"
Since this game seems to be great, I don't think anybody cares if we have to wait a little bit before the release
