The Madness [Psychological Horror / Puzzle]
Insanity
is a cold blanket over icy lies
a black light under dark skies
heavy wings to flee laden ties
a true blessing
when the heart dies
Are you ready to descend into the deepest crevass of the human subconscious?
Peel away the layers of the mind one by one as you solve perplexing puzzles, untangle webs of clues and crack codes, leading you closer and closer to the truth behind the insanity...
The Madness is Gliese's first Visual Novel that opts to minimize the usage of narration, instead exploring the various alternative ways Ren'Py offers to tell the story.
It stands somewhat as a sequel to The Loop, sharing the themes of horror, puzzles and dreamlike worlds, but stars a new protagonist and a new, original story.
The surreal, almost absurdist take on Freudian psychology will take you into the mind of a madman, as you navigate around the crumbling mind solving puzzles.
But will you manage to hold on to your own sanity?
Artists cooperating on the production:
Nekomiira (main artist)
Reikun (custom paintings)
Geckos (custom photographs)
The Madness will be released for free in August.
Closed beta testing should begin in July, assuming no unexpected setbacks.

Re: The Madness [Psychological Horror / Puzzle]
I'm so excited . I loved The Loop (even though I only beat it on the easiest level) so I can't wait to see what this game has in store.
(I should really go back and try the harder difficulties for The Loop.)

I cannot wait to play this game. I adored and was scared of the first one. I'm gonna be terrified of this one.

Re: The Madness [Psychological Horror / Puzzle]
I am really liking the sound of these changes. I personally liked the timed events in The Loop but I never had any glitches with them so that may be part of the reason why. Still even without the timed events I don't doubt that you'll be able to turn the up the pressure >:].

Re: The Madness [Psychological Horror / Puzzle]
I'm afraid to play The Loop because I'm a huge wuss who can't handle horror games... but the concept and the 3D art look wonderfully spooky, so I think you've got the desired effect!

Re: The Madness [Psychological Horror / Puzzle]
this pleases me immensely. You can just keep trying at those puzzles – which means that they’ve now been designed to make them almost impossible to solve by dumb luck. Some puzzles will reset and re-randomize their solution if you fail them, so think before you act!
for the point-and-click interface, are you going to each clickable thing have only one action or a set of actions?

Re: The Madness [Psychological Horror / Puzzle]
For the sake of atmosphere, I decided to limit the options, so each thing will have a determinate action. It wasn't really fitting for the theme to have the protagonist make witty comments on every other object in the room.KimiYoriBaka wrote:this pleases me immensely. You can just keep trying at those puzzles – which means that they’ve now been designed to make them almost impossible to solve by dumb luck. Re: The Madness [Psychological Horror / Puzzle]
When I said "August" I meant maybe more like October....
I'm still pushing for August, but considering that's halfway past I might not make that date. Though it would be a nice thing for the Halloween period, wouldn't it?
