Thank so much :) . I actually have a question about how you go about editing. Do you first write down the whole path or do you do it along the way?

Are you talking about editing or the actual writing? Doesn't really matter, I suppose, since I do the same thing for both. I stick to a single route. I'll write out the various options and mark down where I will come back to for the major decision points. Smaller points I'll just write there. Once I get the full route finished, I'll return to write other routes. I do this for two reasons. One, if something forces my hand and I can't write the other routes, I have a full story no matter what. Two, when I start writing a route I get a certain mindset. The voices in mah head sound a certain way. It's really hard for me to shift between them and sometimes I lose the ability to hear the characters the same way. I push hard to complete the route before I end up losing their voices and my thoughts.

Editing is not started in earnest until the very end (unless time restrictions are in effect). I'll do some spot checks and run the script through a spell-checker on a regular basis, but I don't go knee-deep in the dead until I have a full version. This prevents me from slipping into the never-ending cycle of rewriting everything. To write is to rewrite, but it is too easy to never be satisfied and never see the end.

As for the writing I can agree on that. It's just hard to come up with different story plots that make sense. I think that's my major problem right now for a path; making sure it makes sense. I try to stick to one route to but if I become stuck I go to another then, for some reason, and idea comes up for the previous route I was working on. Sometimes that can get a little confusing :?

As for the editing you and I are the same. I do go over the game after a certain point to make sure I don't have spelling errors but besides that I like to wait till I finish the path to edit it. My only problem is sometime if something doesn't make sense I would have to go rewrite the whole game. That happened and it's been a bit discouraging..."

Also, I really hate writers block. I have three paths down but the other three are still not even thought up. It's hard to make a story, especially for one of the guys...I might have to drop him....

I can see why there are only two love interest lack of time etc., but by just reading their Bios' I can say that Zuri definitely reminds me of Yoi.
But thinking about all of this. I read all your answers and I'm fine with Zuri, but I can still safely say Kylie for life! Can't wait for it to come out.

It doesn't help that Zuri had green hair as well. XD People may be shocked to discover that I'm a fan of the more energetic girls. However, there are some major differences between Zuri and Yoi. The biggest one is honesty. Yoi is one of the worst liars and easily the most two-faced character I've ever written. She has no problem manipulating people while keeping a cheeky grin on her face. Even though she wears her emotions on her sleeve, you never know if they are real. She's been a villain (often unintentionally) in the series more than the hero.

Zuri is the polar opposite. She has a strong code of ethics and holds herself to the belief that a real warrior is honorable and someone everyone wants to be like. She trains hard to work away her weakness (frequently self-perceived only) and tries to make the world a better place. Sadly, she often blunders and her belief that warriors shouldn't care about arts or studying about things outside her training leave her unliked by those in her chain of command. Like Yoi, she tries to lie about the truths in her heart to herself.

In short, Yoi is a rogue, Zuri is a paladin.

I probably shouldn't mention that Kylie was originally the female romance lead.

Hello,

If you are interested in another editor to look over your scripts I would be willing to work with you. At my University I write film scripts and help edit other students to help them out. Since I am on this forum I am interested in building a visual novel, and am in the process of doing so, but I thought it best to get my feet wet by helping other projects first.

School will let out toward the end of the month which is when I will have more time on my hands, but I can at least get started. By approaching your series without having read the previous novel, I think it will give an important 'outsider' perspective you will run into with other readers in my shoes. Of course, if necessary to facilitate a better understanding of the plot I am more than willing to read previous installments if I have time.

Thank you for the offer, but I've got more than enough help at the moment.

This is why I keep saying I need to go back to the old days and not do open development. My mouth runs too much. >.<;

Development is still going well, words are getting written. No major updates to really note right now, so let's keep showing off those various locations around the ship!

Update: Hit the 25k mark this weekend on the script. My original plan at making this was to have the entire story done by this mark. Instead I'm only (mostly) done with the first act (of three) for Zuri's route. This is going to be longer than I intended. Still, the deadline was set with the intention of this growing a bit.

This, my friend, is amazing. The sprite art, the BGs, and especially the plot! Definitely keeping an eye on this.

Those are the concept images. But the artist who did those, Fioricca, is also doing the sprites. They're really turning out very beautifully. ^.^

~It's the moooooooooooorning report.... Gives you the long and the short...~

Script: Not as much progress as I wanted. The open beta of Final Fantasy slowed me down. I'm not through Act 1 entirely, I still have a scene and a half to finish. Current word count is 30,100. I'm going to be stepping up the speed this week.

Background art: Still waiting on the final two backgrounds.

Character art: Lineart and base colors for all sprites have been completed! The shading is all that remains.

CG art: If I'm going to include it in this story, I better get cracking and find somebody.

To round out everything, let's give a little preview of our previous main character's sprites and poses.
And since I assaulted her with a pack of mutant desert fish, I feel kind of bad...

Until next week's report!

The artwork looks amazing. Those backgrounds are really something.

Not interested in romancing a women, which just leaves Sol (and doesn't he seem like a barrel of laughs - will probably have me banging my head against a wall - do we get the option to shoot him or push him out an airlock or something if it doesn't look like it's working out - hmmm maybe I will go for the girl.)

I'm interested in the stories of quite a few of the supporting cast.

Looking good.

Amazing sprites are amazing (Faye is so cute!! Faye yawning, that's so... Faye I guess ^^! I've read the spoiler and yeah,
you are right to feel bad for doing that to her XD)
) I really love her outfit, it makes her look really thin (I want the same clothes!)
Awesome BG are awesome (though I wouldn't like this kind of bedroom).
Good luck for writing!
Waiting for next week's report now ^^

W-w-why would there be an option in a route to shoot Sol? That option would require a downward spiral of corruption from our protagonist.
Note to self: hide the outline better...
Some of the supporting cast will be expanded upon, some won't get much screen time at all. Which of the supporting cast are you interested in, if you don't mind me asking?

I do feel bad. I don't like hurting my little pup, even if it is needed for the plot.
I've stayed in those sorts of bedrooms before. They aren't that bad, strange enough. You'd be amazed what you get used to when you work long hours and crazy shifts.
