My Little Dictator [War][Romance]

Played through it... Honestly, it seemed to me like a regular high school romance visual novel with some light war elements. I'm not even sure if you need Hitler in there at all. You could have just replaced Hitler and Stalin with Girl A and Girl B, and replaced the war with baseball, and you'd have Little Busters.

If it were me, I would stick closer to history and reduced the frivolities. It feels like the whole thing is really censored and white washed to the point where the historical setting and characters are irrelevant. Maybe you're being overly cautious of offending people. I'd love to bring out the Stanley Kubrick stick and make all the girls seriously messed up, ideological, and out to go yandere on poor Yamato-kun, our one straight man in a harem of war criminals.

But I guess if you want to make a Little Busters with Hitler as the dream girlfriend you can? I just think it's a waste of a great Huis Clos setup where our dear Yamato-kun is essentially trapped with a harem of insane war leaders chasing after him.

Played the demo. Gotta say, I really liked it.

The art and music were good, and found that they were used well during the game. I'm not entirely sure what parts are placeholder, so I'll refrain from commenting on them further. Aside from that, I was very satisfied with the writing -- it's better than the usual. I liked the premise from the start, and I'm happy to see that the writing held up. Really enjoyed the humorous parts (particularly the unnamed characters' dialogues and the "meanwhile in America" stuff).

My biggest question is how much emphasis will the game be placing on historical accuracy vs. romantic comedy. To simulate the war parts, I'm sure it has to be fairly accurate, but how can something like war go with a romantic comedy? Is this story more about war or romance? From the demo, I'm not really sure -- but I have faith in it. That's what's holding my interest, and I like it that way!

I kind of have to agree with this. There's a lot of dark potential in this here game, let it free!

Thought so, just don't really understand why. The only thing you seem to gain is displeasure of people whose families suffered from Hitler / Stalin (doesn't seem like here are any but still)

I kind of agree with Anne. I mean, if you decide on making it a commercial game, I think you'll get a lot of negative critique for making something cute out of such a vulgar human being. However, if the plot is really good people might just ignore the fact that you used these dictators in your game. Just as an example, a lot of people were very disappointed in the author of Attack on Titan (Shingeki no Kyojin), Hajime Isayama, for having one character modeled after Yoshifuru Akiyama, a general in the Imperial Japanese Army. But a majority of the fans have overlooked this because the story is so incredible. Also the war crimes of Akiyama don't seem to be confirmed but we all know what Hitler stood for and what he did.
