Introduction
Hello! My name is Jon-Paul, and I am the lone developer for Lucid Truth! The current progress is slow, but going smoothly! I am not much of an artist, but I have been working on the music and story by myself. The character designs will still be awhile as I may not be able to do them at all, but the story and the basic art assets (Menu backdrops, some backgrounds and scenery) have been in development for awhile! Most of the script for the common path has been written, and then it will split into four heroine branches, two hero branches, with two extra branches after the completion of the four branches. I only plan for two of the heroine branches to contain romance. There will be one "True End" story, after completing all the routes which can be chosen from the main menu.
I also have a background in game development when I worked as an intern in Winnipeg, and some video production background when I worked in Vancouver. Thanks to these opportunities, I have learned a lot and I hope to use them to full effect in my game!

Status
As of August 18th, currently in development. I will try to update at least once a week. "Alice" has been added to the character list.

Synopsis
In a field of gold rests a old oak tree. Here memories were crafted, friendships forged, and stories told. Here a boy was born, but he was not born like any other child. He was born from the watchful eye of the sky and the roots of the wise oak itself. Unlike other children, he was not able to sense things at birth. He was not able to see, hear, smell, or taste. Instead he laid idle under the oak tree until he learned. The oak tree slowly taught the boy through touch, and in time, he became familiar with the rest of his senses was able to become like any other child.
Winter then came and the child has finally matured. The last leaf fell from the aging oak tree after the snow quickly piled in November. The community then gained fabricated memories of the child, allowing him to be accepted in the world. The child now has a home at Great Plains Academy which sits in the great fields of central Canada. The school is built like a town with multiple buildings and a large student body. Here he will live his life with his new friends as he learns to be human like everyone else.
(Synopsis still in the works)

Setting
The story takes place at the fictional school called "Great Plains Academy", located somewhere in central Canada. The story will take place over the course of 6-12 months, depending on the character's route.

Characters
Character Name: Skyler Oak
Class: Year 11 Class 3
Bio: He has been around forever, living in the grand oak in the middle of a field. The oak is due for death soon, and he has been forced to leave his home. His home gave him the wisdom and knowledge he needs to survive in the world, but he is now no different from everyone else. One day, his home will grow back, and he will return with it.
Characteristics: Curious, quiet, and quite self-efficient. He's the DIY type guy. He cooks his lunch everyday and learns new skills whenever he can. Usually wearing a white dress shirt with his sleeves rolled up to his elbows.

Character Name: Ivaan Grey.
Class: Year 11 Class 1
Religion: -
Bio: A skinny kid who invests most of his time on his computer and overreacting. He has a short temper, and is often found shouting at others or his computer. He is the only one who's aware that Skyler did not attend Great Plains Academy before Skyler's “disappearance”. Most other people just simply believed that he was quiet and kept to himself. He's Skyler's best friend and a faithful wingman. He got held back a year after his parents disappeared.
Characteristics: Loud, charismatic, short-tempered, smart, smart-ass, messy, lazy, and a heavy sleeper. Often wearing his black v-neck instead of the standard school uniforms.
Relatives: Ketcha Grey

Character Name: Ketcha Grey.
Class: Year 11 Class 3
Religion: -
Bio: A figure much like her older brother, skinny, loud, but still shy when around other girls. Because of this, she has trouble making friends at the academy, and the only person she gets along well with is her brother Ivaan. She has long brown wavy hair that goes down to her waist, but is often wrapped up in a ponytail. The Grey siblings only were able to attend Great Plains Academy because their father was best friends with the VP.
Characteristics: Loud around her brother and his friends, quiet around others. Like her brother she is short-tempered but often shows it in a passive-aggressive way unless Spencer is the cause. She is taller than most girls in her class, but isn't athletic at all. She's also a great pianist but no longer plays.
Relatives: Ivaan Grey

Character Name: Mitch Fehr
Class: Year 11-3
Religion: Mennonite
Bio: An athletic but level-headed kid in Skyler's class. He's Mennonite but doesn't attend Church. Instead he is often out on the track or inside the common room, reading a Japanese manga. He is the school's all-star goaltender in hockey. One of Ivaan's few friends.
Characteristics: Level-headed, friendly, often stressed before and after hockey games, and athletic. In comparison with Spencer's height, he is very short, but he is very agile and shows it often.

Character Name: Spencer Still
Class: Year 11-3
Religion: Catholic
Bio: Mitch's roommate. Can often be heard getting yelled at after hours. He is known for being caught, even though he is the most careful man in the universe. He spends most of his free time in the industrial arts room crafting guitars. He is by no means a good guitarist, but he does perform at every talent show.
Characteristics: Perverted, creative, unlucky, smart, good at plans. He's the tallest guy in his class but because of his poor posture, most people can look down on him. Also has a cool red mohawk.

Character Name: Alice
Class: Year 9
Religion: ?
Bio: Alice, also known as the girl with a foot stuck in a rabbit hole, is a mysterious ninth grader who often appears around campus and under Ketcha's bed, even though she is assigned to a different dorm. She doesn't attend classes, but she has been setting division wide records in advanced classes so her teachers do not mind, as long as she does not disappear. Could be dangerous if threatened, approach with caution. Most civilians don't last more than fifteen seconds with her. She doesn't interact with many people, and as a result, no one knows her last name.
Characteristics: Short, even for a 9th grader, erratic, violent, sneaky, and not much of a speaker.

2 heroines and 3 major characters are up next on my to-edit list!

First off, welcome to Lemmasoft! I hope you like it here. :)

Your story sounds quite promising, and this looks like it'll be a great visual novel. Is it only for android, though, or is it for android and PC?

I saw the few screen shots you have, and your main menu is very nice. I've got a question, though. You said:
I only plan for two of the heroine branches to contain romance.
So, does that mean that the rest of the hero and heroine branches are all friendship routes?
My first completed visual novel, which is at 1.3, it's final version(woo hoo!): Monster Uses CPU 2
Finally at version 1.0: White Fog

You might ask yourself: If I could only save one paragraph of the work I'm writing, which one would I save?
Which one would I let go first?

The full release I plan to have it available for both Android and PC. During the testing stages, I will be delaying the Android testing until I have everything stable and at least 2 of the paths done.

Basically, yes. I don't want to force a romance for every heroine, it just feels unnatural for a main character to love as many characters as possible. A couple of the routes will be dealing with friendships/school life/etc which will be focusing on character development, while the other routes will have a larger focus on the world and its myths.

And thanks!

If you need other people to provide art, or help you refine what you've drawn, then be sure to ask politely.

Skyler Oak sounds a bit similar to the title character from The Odd Life of Timothy Green, though a bit older. How will he interact with other people? Does he fit in among humans? Could his perspective be described as "fish out of water" or perhaps "society outsider"?

That makes sense. Just because a main character is heterosexual doesn't mean the person wants a romantic relationship with every person of the opposite sex within their age bracket. It's a good idea to downplay love polygons and harems. (See the TVTropes discussion on "Playing With: Unwanted Harem." Just beware the site's addictive properties.)

Also, I know that many fans like shipping, and being able to choose the main character's significant other. (There are exceptions. Hinano was only interested in the main couple when she read Nanatsuiro Drops.) But I don't have a problem with many of the characters' canonical relationships not being two people in love... but instead their relationships being people who are friends, family, coworkers, mentors, and so on.

Since this will be taking place over a long stretch of time, I'm going to try to progress Skyler's social skills as the story progresses. He will be a little shy and know his way around some common terms, and even know enough to get by in school, but he will be showing childlike wonder and curiosity through a mature teenager's actions. The main reason why he able to communicate like that will be a major plot point found during one of the beginning arc, and the secrets behind revealed in a character's route. By the end of the common route he will still be as curious as before but his social skills should be on par with everyone else in the series. (I hope that made sense...)

Of course, there will be a huge focus on building relationships. The only reason there are two romantic relations is because I felt like they progressed that way. Of course I could try to progress the other paths into another direction, and maybe I will in time. As for now, the decision stands until I have suddenly changed my mind.

And as for the art, I have gotten a couple requests from some people from IndieDB, although I've always been skeptical of the people on that site as once I add them, I never get a reply... I may still try my hand at a different method, such as vector art instead of traditional, and see the results of that. If not, then I will kindly and happily ask someone to do the art for me :)

Agree! I don't want to force a romance for every heroine too
