You don't have to close it? I think it's nice to keep it open in case you want to update with progress and that the rest of us can offer words of encouragement/feedback. :D

updated with a new map of the place. The incentive of the map is for the player to play the game more than once with a different character class. Only special places unlock if you play a certain branch of the story. Regarding the story, depending on the character class you choose, the setting will be the same but the story will be different.

I can't wait to see more from this game! The art style and overall theme/direction you seem to be taking for the story is very appealing and is a unique (and refreshingly innovative) take on visual novels. You all seem very passionate about the product you are making and, at least in my experience, that passion usually results in a great game.

Best of luck to you all, and I will bookmark this thread for future updates :)

What---- I don't understand what is wrong with people seriously. I mean, your character designs are not ugly at all I can assure you that. In fact it gives off a professional feel that I can't quite describe. Look at the shading and all, how can someone call that ugly and bad art? I can't shade half as good and clean as that to save my life! (not to say I'm deeply in love with the Thief class's design, it looks so brilliant and ufff cute at the same time haha)

Don't let the criticize get you down. Your art is unique, really unique in a way that it's interesting to look at. It's kind of refresh to the eyes too, actually! With such high art quality, I really don't understand how people would call this bad art. But I guess each person has their own opinion. But seriously, even if the art is that bad, instead of complaining about how the art is such a turned off without a better reason than "Oh, I find them ugly looking to my taste so they are bad bad art", why don't they go and tell the producer what to improve on?

Sorry but as of right now I seriously can't tell you what you should do to make it better because the game is looking so great already. From the characters design, art style to background, they are breath-taking!!

First let me say that the response to the feedback was very professional and you should pat yourself on the back for taking it in stride.

Next, let me say that the feedback given by those users was not helpful in any way. If someone is going to give critique, they should tell you what specifically about your work that they believe needs to be improved/fixed/changed/corrected (anatomy, color, heights, anything). Leaving comments like "this is ugly" has no weight in how you progress with your project. Gonna go with the adage here of "Haters gonna hate."

What actually drew me to your group's game was the art. Don't get me wrong - I love anime and manga and always will, but I kind of get tired of sparkly, clean-cut bishounen and clumsy moe-blobs. However, the art is not what kept me in this thread - I read the story description and was like "Hey, this sounds cool!" To balance out everything, my advice would be this - when describing your game, you don't have to put emphasis on how the artwork isn't typical of an everyday VN. Keep us involved with the story. One of my favorite shows stars an Asian protagonist, which isn't common in American television. But the show isn't talked about in a way as "Hey! Our lead isn't like the norm!" They just happen to draw me in with its premise and kept me with the plot. Anything else was a pleasant bonus.

Anyway, keep on truckin'. You're always gonna hit a few bumps on the way, but don't let that detract from the journey.

aw you guys are so sweet T_T

Actually I asked coz all they said was ugly without explanation (just wanted to make sure I was on the right track)

Storywise, we are just trying to break out the norm of what 'regular gamers' are considered--not all of us are rage angry players, some of us are on the other side. Some of us try really hard to finish a quest but fail and try again. And lastly, some of us use it to connect with people we feel comfortable with. The main character is a guy, but one of the secondary characters is actually female--his sister, who is also a gamer. We just thought we needed to represent. Progress wise, I'm sorry I haven't updated much, most of it was programming so far, but we're heading on a good path, implementing dialogue and choices.

Thanks for the advice you guys
