I understand trying to release a fangame, but it being commercial?? I will also repeat what's been said and wonder why you'd want to make a commercial release from a game that was free in the first place.

That makes me think that this game wasn't given permission? Not to mention that having a commercial release for a fangame seems strange since the original game was free. I'm not 100% sure how fangames in the U.S. work in that case.

If this game is already approved, I think "Juniper's Knot: Subtitle Here" would be more fitting for a fangame. Also, this is going to be GxB and GxG, right? As in Girl x New Guy and Girl x the Fiend.

I think more released development about this game would get you more replies on this thread. If you said a demo is going to be released in 2-3 months from now, some concept writing/sketches would be great to see!
Alrighty...

1. Idk about commerciality for now and honestly would prefer not to talk about it because the game is nowhere near completion in the first place...
In my opinion, I'd like to make it non-commercial becuz that'd allow me to reach out to a larger audience. Plus, much of our staff is doing this out of passion, not pay, so I really hope this will be a free release. I can't make any promises now though, sorry... ^^;;

2. I'm through approximately 30% of the script, and the artwork's well underway. I think we should have a reasonably lengthed Ren'py demo soon.

3. I was planning to romanticize the boy and the fiend but then people started saying they had more of a sister-brother relationship and I'm caught in between >.<

Have two different endings. One where it's romanticized, one where it's a sibling relationship.

And because is spelt because.

Precisely for that reason, you will probably have to make it non commercial. Let's say I started working on a project because I was a fan, did 20 backgrounds, then found out it was going commercial in the last month of development. I might normally charge 30/hr as my rate and just be doing it because I liked the game. Of course, now I would demand you pay me since I found out that you were making a profit from my work. But since we never negotiated the rate before hand, you might not be able to afford it and would have to remove all my work from the game, if not devolve into messy legal matters.

Most fan projects are not for profit because of the large amount of people who tend to go in and out and contribute. It's far easier to have a lot of people working on it when you don't have to figure out how much to pay them.

I really enjoyed Juniper's Knot, so I'm glad some people are actually taking out the time and effort to make this ^^

I hope they don't actually fall for each other though, if that's what you meant. But maybe you've got something great ahahaha~

I'm also hoping you'll make it free though, since the original Juniper's Knot was free, and I'm a poor student with no money TT-TT

But I'm totally looking forward to the demo (and the released product), so all the best!
