Tropichu! is a short free to play game set at a tropical beach.

In the past Marin always chose to go with her father on survival trips,
but because of some circumstances, she decided to go to the popular beach retreat with her sisters this year.

She's expecting on having a low key vacation this year,
but somehow the summer is turning out way more eventful than expected!

CHARACTERS
Image
Marin
Marin is the main character of the game.
Not as used to the beach scene as her sister,
Marin plans to spend her summer vacation relaxing.
Enjoying the sun is a lot less stressful at the beach
than it is in a forest full of wild animals.

Louise
Louise is Marin's little sister, who has become very
interested in the surf scene this year.

Brittany Marin's older twin sister.
Very relaxed and like to socialize with everyone.

Nathan
Nathan is a young photographer. Captivated by ocean life,
but a bit less comfortable with people.

Will is one of the lifeguards at the beach,
lively and mischievous, and a friends with Brittany.
    • Tropichu! is a short game I decided to make into reality over my winter break in 2013.
      It's supposed to be a lighthearted story. I'm in charge of basic planning of the story, the design and artwork and programming. Iwako and Shaples are Tropichu!'s writers.

1a) Of course, especially if I enjoyed the first game. \o/
1b) Sure! I think stat-raising/a dating sim would be fun for this.

2b.) I'd rather not have dating sim/stat-raising elements, but I'd still like to play this game whether it has those elements or not~

This sounds like a fun game ^^. I wish you luck on meeting all your deadline :>.

1a.) Would you be interested in new versions with extra content and more characters after it's initial release?

Yeah. Maybe there could be individual routes for her two sisters and the MC/one sister could bond or something. Just an idea 'X3.

1b.) And maybe add Dating Sim/Stat-Raising elements?

Yeah again. This good looks like it could mess well with stat-raising and I do enjoy me some stat-raising.

Yes!

Stats aren't really my thing. It makes me less motivated to replay, if stats are a heavy portion of gameplay. That being said, I'd still play your game even if you choose to put it in.

The screenshots look wonderful. I love the GUI and sprites, but most of the all the work that you put into the beautiful CGs! Can't wait to play this!

Take it one step at a time. Finish one version before moving on to the next. For instance, start by wrapping up work on the VN version first. Then once you're done, consider whether you will benefit by adding stats and time management, or whether you think they'll distract from the story and ruin its pacing.

But that said... I definitely like the character art and setting. Wouldn't object to a later edition with additional content. More focus on the sisters' relationships with each other (friends? rivals? friendly competition?). Other people nearby to interact with? Postive non-romance paths and endings?

I'm gonna be the lone nay-sayer and say not really... because I want you to work on Memento Karotte instead Haha~~ I think if you have fun finishing the first version, and you think you'll have more fun expanding it later, go for it! Especially since you're planning to release for free. Maybe if you expand to another version, keep yourself to a development time limit like this initial release?

1b.) And maybe add Dating Sim/Stat-Raising elements?
I don't mind stat-raising as long as it's balanced and meaningful to the game. For example, if your stats don't really affect the main story I'd rather they weren't included at all. At the same time, if the stat-raising involved is just "max out stat Y to guarantee ending X" it's not going to be much fun (in my opinion)

Are you still sticking to a time limit for development on this, and if so are you nearing completion? :)

Thank all of you for answering my questions!

Due to school and some health issues, the game's release may be pushed back one or two weeks. But I will let you guys know for sure at the end of next week.


@Googaboga
One of the endings/routes is already one of the sisters, but if I do make additional content I might end some things for the other sister also.

@Reikun
If I add more things, I want it to also have a 2 month time limit, so I know it will be finished.

I'm not thinking of adding more than 10k words and 4 CGs on the second turn, unless I am able to find some help writing wise. It would double the game still, so it's worth it, I think.
