Re: Queen At Arms, on Steam this year [GxB][GxG][War][Fantas
Ahh this is prolly too late but regarding the settings GUI - I'm caught between the first and second :O I tend to like simple font .. stylizations? but the second's probably easier to read...
Looks great!
Looks great!

The first and the second( <-preferred ) one.Ulalaria wrote:Meagan the background artist ducking in again...
........ This is my first time designing a UI, so feedback is much appreciated. Please keep in mind: The sliding bars are just a filler graphic for now, and will be replaced with much prettier ones once I decide on a composition. Which do you like best?

underbliss and Amberbaum - Thanks for the feedback! <3
We decided we needed a button to toggle the timed menus on and off, so a lot of things got changed around. Here's the current iteration:

I'm eagerly waiting for Queen at arms! There's something I'd like to ask though, sorry if this has been asked before!
The main character has been brought up as a male, but do they identify as a man or a woman or maybe something in between? Is the issue brought up in the game at all? Since the gender of the protagonist seems to be a big part of the game, it'd be really cool to see the protagonist dealing with the issue. I have trouble imagining that someone who has been brought up as a male would fully embrace their femininity, and I'm interested to see the other character's reactions as well!

@xxxSakura Don't worry about that, hun. Letting us know it looks good helps us too.
@Aviala I think the most accurate term for the MC would be gender queer. The MC doesn't feel like she needs to identify one way or another, and while she's spent her life as male, she isn't uncomfortable being this way. As far as embracing herself as female, she's considered it, but it's going to be the people the player spends time with that determines if she tries to. Each character has a different reaction to finding out her biological gender and it does come into play if you want to have a romance. Some characters are okay with her like she is while others don't understand why she doesn't just pick male or female and thus encourage her to do so. At the end of the day it'll be the player that decides which gender the MC settles on (if any at all) and then get to see how that impacts her relationships.
All of that said, the question of her gender takes a bit of a backseat to her responsibilities as a commander. Everyone in her life sees her as male and she continues to perform under that perception until events after the war make it relevant and/or more easily focused on by herself and those around her. (You'll be playing one last chapter when the war is over assuming you managed to win it.) Gender isn't a footnote in the game, but it doesn't get thoroughly explored narratively until the MC has time to (or is forced to) consider it.

Re: Queen At Arms, on Steam this year [GxB][GxG][War][Fantas
Hi all! Just a brief update on my progress with the GUI:
The prefs screen is completely re-skinned and fully functional! Here it is in action...
The save/load screens are next, so I've done a quick mockup for those...
I also painted this nice arrow button, but now we're not sure if we'll be able to use it.
Anyway, thanks for all the feedback everyone's offered so far. It's been a great help!

But yeah, I like it a lot too. I guess if we don't end up using it in Queen, I can always cannibalize it into some future project.
