8/31: ok, the story is creeping along.

8/31:
- story's mostly done. still rough. something missing. might change a lot.
- not quite sure where this one is going. keeps changing in my head.
- originally wanted basic sprites and bgs. lol. probably end up being very different from my original intention.

I've always loved scary urban legends, and Japan's kuchisake-onna has always been one of my favorite short horror stories ever, haha. Curious to see what you'll come up with! Good luck!

The story is going to be good, I can tell (being a fan of the original urban legend).

It might be good to clean up the main post for your WIP in progress thread. Seperate information into clear topics (E.G. story overview, characters, game play, progress, and so on). You will do a better job of selling your game idea to other developers. Then we can offer better advice to you.

That's alright. I just think its best to show a clear picture of what you intend to make to other developers.

- most of my stuff start as one-person projects, so i try to save time by minimizing extra work, ignoring the real world, not capitalizing my sentences, etc. heh.

- also, stilts has been showing me some sweet character designs. =)

Here are two final character spirtes. The art style is going to have a black and white aesthetic as well as a yellow motif so they're deliberately rough and sketchy.

Here's the final set of characters. I had a really good time coming up with these guys and the fact that they're all black and white made it relatively painless XD

Oooh... The art looks so pretty o: It's so stylish!
For some reason, the designs remind me a little of the persona 4 characters XD Maybe because of the yellow and black.

And I've always thought the rumor of the slit-mouthed woman interesting.
Have you read Romy Ashby's 'The Cutmouth Lady'? It's a book of short, mostly horror-y stories set in Japan, written by a woman who was brought up in Japan. Maybe you would like it, it had some cool stuff about Japanese urban legends.

The reason for the yellow motif is for a similar reason why persona 4 used it: yellow, and particularly black and yellow, evoke a sense of fear and danger. I thought this was rather appropriate given the genre.

but the story is quite EVIL.
