Description: What if your drawings had a mind of their own? What would they think of their creator and how would they view life? This is the questionable tale of a character’s self discovery.

Setting:
The idea for this game is that there is a town within every digital artist’s computer where their drawings are alive. The drawings act as what they’re meant to represent. For example, house drawings act as inanimate objects in the town but human drawings think and move. There is a religion in this town where they worship the creator as The Great Creator. However, the characters have varying ideas on how closely the deity should be followed and how to approach life. The artist does know that this happens but doesn’t directly interact with the town other than adding in items such as statues. Since this is my story, I am represented as the Great Creator in this case. There will be statues of me scattered throughout town.

Plot:
You will be playing as Untitled. She is a bit lost in life and finding herself. You will pick what events she does and dialog now and then. Ultimately, you will pick what her resolution is to approaching life. However, the plot will become increasingly important over time. There will be small scenes that refer to the plot and develop it but the main goal of this game is getting a slice of life sort of game. It’s meant to be humorous and mostly light hearted. Most of the game will deal with interacting with the town and your friends. This game will cover two weeks of the protagonist's life.

Gameplay:
Half of the days you will be given a choice between two major activities. Every day will have small dialog ones. This is not a stat building game. There are some options you won’t see if you didn’t pick the right event but outside of each day your choices won’t influence how the game plays out. I have designed the game so that all the events that are referenced to later are mandatory, so you won’t be confused when someone talks about something that happened you didn’t play through. At the end of the game, you will be given a choice that will completely decide which of the three endings you get.

Progress Report:
Refer to latest update comment.

Image
Untitled is the main protagonist. I designed her to have a little personality but also be normal enough to be a self-insert character. Her name is a play on the idea of being an under developed character and also being a self-insert. She is a little lost in life. She doesn’t have any large problems to cause this. She has a comfortable life but she wonders if it’s enough and also what approach she should take to life in general. She works a part time job at a pet store one day a week. She will develop more personality as the story progresses.

Image
Ivy is one of her best friends. Ivy is a free spirit but is a bit short tempered and cocky. She often gets annoyed at Sam and Daniel for not taking things seriously enough. She loves pastries to a fault and works at a bakery one day a week. She also enjoys cute things but prefers things a bit more quirky as opposed to typical cuteness. You won’t catch her dead in pink!

Image
Sam is one of her best friends. Sam is a bit lazy and laid back. He isn’t very emotional and doesn’t say much. He takes life lightly and says it’s not good to take yourself too seriously. He can often be caught zoning out and day dreaming but he’s reliable when it matters. He works at the toy store one day a week.

Image
Daniel is one of her best friends. Daniel is the most religious of the bunch. He enjoys partaking in worship activities and occasionally thanks the Great Creator for the good things in his life. It can be difficult to tell whether or not he's joking since his demeanor rarely changes. You could say he’s always and never serious. He is very calm and composed. He doesn’t take himself that seriously and likes to mess around in his own way. Daniel is the most dependable of the three friends. He works on day a week at the library.

Hey, nice starting point! Stay motivated, that's 99% of the battle. Embrace your humanity, be curious, and motivation/inspiration will follow.

I'm curious to know whether the 'Great Creator' has an art block and how that affects the town. Will there be things like WIP's that never get finished and silly random doodles that pop out of nowhere?

Thanks! I'm trying. Haha. The main problem right now is how long its going to take to finish. It feels like there's so much left to do and there is. I'm trying to take things in small steps so I don't get overwhelmed.

I do intend to have some silly things in there that seem a little out of place with the town as in like if you looked in someone's sketchbook you'd find some silly things of course! Right now considering writing in a tree with flirtatious apples that throw pick up lines at passerbys. Another thing I'm thinking of is a family of wise small rodents. I'm not entirely sure what sort of thing I'd do yet. It might end up being really different from these ideas I'm giving you.

I was not planning to throw in an art block segment but I'll think about it now. I probably won't though. Wouldn't make me a very good god. lol However, I did think of sticking in wips. I was going to put caution tape around them and have them be construction zones! I haven't wrote that in yet but I definitely will.

Sounds good :3 I think it will be fun for other artists to play the game and go 'I can totally relate to that!' in regards to silly doodles and WIP's and things or it make them think of what their own art world would be like.

Thanks! That's definitely the idea. Although, I'm mostly planning on focusing on how these artist things would be seen by their creations so I'm not sure how much you'd relate. XD Like the main protagonist is going to struggle with being underdeveloped and I'm going to try to make that seem like a real person thing you know? I think it is relatable to feel like you aren't sure who you are but going to have fun with it going at it at a different approach then the normal.

Updated.

Screenshots updated for slightly improved backgrounds. Two screenshots added. Screenshot captions added. I have decided that the game will definitely cover two weeks of the protagonist's life.

I figure I should leave some questions here to help foster talking. :P

1. Do you like my art?
2. Do you like the concept?
3. How do you customize the buttons? (I don't need this one answered anymore. Haha.)
4. What do you think of my characters?
5. Would you be interested in a demo? This game is somewhat short. My overall estimated word count falls somewhere between 9k and 12k atm. I have the outline finished but I won't know for sure till I finish the script.

I deleted some wordy passages that I decided didn't help the story and rewrote a lot of it. I have now finished the writing for the first 6 days of the 14 planned days and have started on the 7th day.

I haven't worked on artwork since the last update but I think I'm making good progress.

I also have a new estimated overall word count range, 10k-13k.

Progress Report:
Character Art: 4 completed, 2 expressions completed
Script: 4,800 words/???? words
Backgrounds: 10 completed, the rest are not started yet
Coding: 2 minute of gameplay/??? minutes of gameplay

This looks cute, while having deep themes at the same time. I'm interested to try it out. =D
Unfortunately, I don't have time to play anything right now, so I'll just be patiently awaiting your updates. n__n

I think your concept is unique (I've often wondered about the things I draw and what they'd think of me if they could...), and I think your characters have cute personalities. ^__^
For your first VN, I think this is nice stuff. =)
