And I just noticed that I haven't changed their eyebrows for the expression examples! They do have different brows, I just completely forgot.

Moving onto Theo next, then it's only the secret romance sprite to do before I can work on the main character sprite! Really starting to get somewhere now

Thank you so much It's really nice to hear you like the art, especially as it's so different than what I had in the original post.

I'm starting to speed up in getting the art finished, so hopefully you won't have to wait long until you see Theo!

Ha, if anything, the art is more refined! Almost like a painting. You are very talented indeed.

Something I forgot to mention in the previous comment, I noticed that Elisedd's right shoulder seems to be a little lower than his left. I don't know if that's something that can be easily changed, but I thought I'd point it out just in case.

Yeah, his stance is supposed to be like that- sort of jaunty I wanted him facing forwards, but didn't want him to look too static, even if he does tend to stand much more stiff and formally than the rest of the characters. Hope it doesn't look too off-putting!

I'm working on the secret romance sprite now, which I'm not sure if I'll show or not. I might do, as everyone will probably guess the 'secret' romance anyways Then I can move onto the main character sprite.

I'm really hoping to have all the sprites for this section done by next week. Everything is taking a lot longer than planned, but I'm looking forward to it all coming together in the demo!

The eyeliner game is certainly strong with him It was great fun to let loose with it!

I wasn't sure whether to put him up or not due to spoilers, but I kinda figured most people could guess the secret romance anyways, so why not?

His romance isn't in the demo, but obviously will be included in the full game.

Woohoo! Finally managed to update the profiles and art in the original post

I will be coding in all the expressions for all the sprites over the next few days, so that is going to take quite a bit of time. But, after that I will be moving onto starting the CGs, so expect some screenshots and art again soon!

Sorry I've been so quiet! I've been busy coding in all the sprites and their expressions, which was... a lot But, things look like they're starting to come together with the sprites in game.

So, due to unforeseen circumstances, I will be starting my Christmas break early. This means production on CtS will be on halt until January.
I won't be around too much, though I will be in and out of the forums and social media during that time

In the New Year, the focus will completely be on getting out the demo- which will be longer and have more in it now that it's been delayed until January

Courting the Seasons is now back in full production!

The focus now will be getting the demo ready to be released along with the Steam Greenlight campaign. I’m not sure when that will be yet, but possibly some time in February.

And, now I have longer to work on the demo, more is going to be included in it!

Quite a big update this time

Things feel like they're really starting to come together.

Began coding the sprites and art into the script I've already done, along with starting to write some new scenes.

Managed to get some CGs done, and am close to getting the first part finished completely, including art, coding, and script.

Over the Christmas break I had some things I really wanted to implement, and I have managed to put those in as well.

Something I've been desperate to add is dialogue and action recognition- I've tried my best to put in as much recognition as is possible and that fits in with the story.
For example, say you ask a character about his job and he says one thing, but later on he says something different, you can ask him about his contradiction. Or another example might be if you say you like travelling, but someone else later in the game asks you about it and you say you don't, the characters will pick up on that.
This will also take affect for actions- if you handle a situation a certain way, the characters will remember and recognise that.
Also just generally having the character recognise stuff you've talked about, even if it isn't really important. I think it makes the characters feel more real.

I've also done my best to put heavy variation into every conversation and situation. So if you replay the game and get to a scene where you are talking to a character, you have a range of questions to ask them, which may lead onto another set of different questions, which may lead to them asking you a question related to that varying topic. I wanted it to feel like the natural flow of a conversation. This won't be for every conversation, but a good amount of them.

But I wanted to show an example of the range of choices you can get. These will also vary:

There may be time when you need to respond to a situation with Ruler options, in which case you will get 5 choices: Diplomatic, Kind, Inspiring, Noble, or Oppressive.

Other times it's just a general response to dialogue or personal events, in which case you get 4 personality ways to react.

And then when it comes to enquiries, there are generally 3 questions you can ask, along with sometimes having the option not to ask anything at all.

The current statistics for the game are:

The game contains 6,532 dialogue blocks, containing 83,654 words and 434,497
characters, for an average of 12.8 words and 67 characters per block.

The game contains 113 menus, 410 images, and 14 screens.

This does include part of the secret romance which, as I've said before, won't be in the demo.

I'm probably about 60% through the demo, and about 35% through the main game... It's gonna be a biggy
