Before the Wind Ceases [BxG][Romance/Drama][DEMO Available]

Before the Wind Ceases is a Visual Novel that goes around Kazuo Tabata's life. And how he manages to live without his father in his firsts years of highschool.
Meeting important people, more specifically one person. One that will change his life forever.

Before the wind ceases, he will show his true self.

Characters:

Kazuo Tabata (You): Kazuo is a normal teenager who had some difficult times with his dad when he was young. After his father moved away to another country, he's been living alone and now he is starting his first years in Furawa Academy. His purpose this year is to find a friend, someone that will understand him and be with him.

Natsuki Koizumi: She is a student at Furawa Academy. No more information because that would spoil the story.

The whole story is gonna be written by me and it is gonna be divided in chapters (I don't know how many yet).And all the Background Art is made by Uncle Mugen.

And soon, probably tomorrow I will have a Demo of the Prologue and Chapter 1 (MAYBE, I'm not sure yet.).

I wanted to ask you guys a question too:

Do you want choices? Or just a long story with only one route?

Looks interesting from what you've got.

If you want to know whether you should use choices or not, it's hard to say at this point. With only a few screenshots and a short summary of the plot, I don't know what either direction would entail, but a lot of the time, even if it's hard to pick one, try weighing the two, and think about what each choice would entail.

Making a straight kinetic novel means that the story is less interactive, and more like a book, but that has it's own charm. It lets you flesh out the single line of story, so it's truly satisfying, and it means that all the content goes into one playthrough.

If you want to put meaningful choices into the story, and make branching options for endings, it means that players get a degree of choice, but it means you need to write multiple conclusions to the story, maybe some good ones, maybe some bad ones. One playthrough of the game will be relatively shorter if the entire game is the same word count as a kinetic novel, and since there's multiple endings, they might not each be as filled out as if you'd spent the same amount of effort on only one. You'd also need to plan out the game a bit more thoroughly, so you know where the choices will happen, and what ending each choice leads to.

Both options have their pros and cons. Some authors and readers prefer one or the other. Which one you want to use is completely up to you, and what you think would work best with your story idea.

Wow, thank you for the reply.

And I have the story in my head so I don't think it will be a choice story. Maybe my next game (If there even is one).

And the lack of screenshots and plot explantion is because if I tell more about it, it will spoil the game story or something important in it.

Well, I can't force you to reveal anything about your story before you're ready, but all I wanted to say is, if nobody knows what kind of story you want, we can't really give much specific advice, besides telling you generalized comments like my last one.

I came here to see your project as soon I saw your comment in my post... And I like how this sounds! I'll keep an eye on this.
Also, you can make this with no choices if you want, so you are like telling a story, or put in some choices and let the reader build his story. I like both options, and I think you should do what you feel comfortable with.
Anyway, I saw you got no sprites for the game at the moment. I can help with that if you want and draw some sprites for you. Contact me if you are interested and good luck with the project!

Update:

A 5-ish minute Demo of the Prologue and Chapter 1 of my game. I hope you like it.

(There is some parts where Natsuki Koizumi seems to move and that's because I fucked up with the sprites. It will be fixed once the full game comes out :D)

I just played the demo.
Even though I noticed that Natsuki's sprite seems to get slightly smaller/bigger when she changes expressions, I do like how you drew her. Your art is nice.
You may want to proofread, because I noticed a few errors in the writing.
I'm interested to see where you go with the story.

I didn't draw it, It's a free to use sprite. I wish I could draw like that.
And I should do some proofreading, thank you for the comment. :D
