Raven Falls - A mystery title

Raven Falls is what hopes to be successful launch title for the newly formed group of "Justice Brothers".

Raven Falls is about a man named Eric and his girlfriend Veronica. Eric plans a trip hoping to propose to his girlfriend. On the day of the trip, he’s driving down the road with his girlfriend and two best friends. A flash of light appears and he wakes up in the middle of a forest. When he finally makes his way back to town, he discovers the town in ruins. He searches the ruins of the town hoping to find clues and searches for Veronica. The idea is to create what’s called a Visual Novel. If you’re new to the idea it’s basically a computer game where you go through an interactive story. This is a passion project and we need your help to take the next step. This game is going to be available for free for everyone to enjoy upon release.

As of right now the teaser demo utilizes a lot of CC material as placeholders until the project can officially be funded and the final images can be integrated.

The final product will be free to download with an expected non-H, +13 rating.

Further information along with the teaser demo can be found at the Kickstarter page below.
I would include the demos here but the max file size is too small.

Any support be it monetarily or simply passing the link onto your friends and family would be greatly appreciated.

You know, I sometimes still do that. :)
This Act 1 portion is what hooked me on VNs, so I like to promote them.

I'm glad to hear that you care about your story. Make sure that you want the world to know about your characters, their world, and their circumstances. Commit yourself to finishing it no matter how difficult its development might be. If you are dedicated to writing, then your passion will likely be noticed by readers.

Your Kickstarter page currently says the following:
What sets us apart is the fact this game will have full voice acting for a cast of over 20+ characters that you can interact with, along with a wide array of detailed backgrounds. The game itself will feature sequential nonlinear exploration as a core game play mechanic. Game play is going to be focused on allowing the player to explore the town in a way that comes naturally to them.
I'm not entirely sure how you will combine visual novel storytelling with exploration gameplay. Are the two parts of your project going to be completely separate? Or will they blend? I want to know how storytelling segments and walking through the town will seem connected. Also, please be sure to mention if your goal is to tell a story *through* nonlinear gameplay and discovering things.

Your Kickstarter page also says:
This is not an “Adult” VN; our game is geared towards a western audience and would have more of a PG-13 rating for: Thematic elements, mentions of alcoholism, violence, and strong language.
It's your story, so use content guidelines which are appropriate for it. Having a rating in mind can be helpful in writing, and in finding an audience. Also, you can consider adjusting your rating later if the story justifies a horrific or violent scene.

As I have said elsewhere, I don't want visual novels to be automatically placed in one content category. In my opinion, fans should not assume or expect that titles will be always NC-17 rated. Or always G rated. Or anywhere in between those extremes.

A couple of off-topic asides:
Because of my fandom experiences with alternative comics, fanfiction, and visual novels, my point of view might be a bit different. I have read stories which include explicit sex scenes, but which also have enough general plot content that there are five chapters or two hours of reading in between them.

When I wandered into visual novel fandom over a decade ago, it was challenging to find anything available in English other than "porn with maybe a hint of plot." It took a few years, but now it's easier to find a wider scope of content. There are professional and fan-made translations of OJLVNs which range from clearly worksafe to very explicit. There are also VNs written in English which range from clearly worksafe to very explicit.

Very pleased to hear a response.
To explain a few things that were brought up, this is indeed a passion project for each of us in the group for a few reasons.

For myself, I have also been an VN fan for the last 8+ years and have noticed the Western change in accepting a more dynamic range of material that this medium can be used; Steam and the OELVN community has probably made the biggest change in the eyes of the public. I have always wanted to be in production and in the case of Raven Falls am acting as the programmer and creative consultant. I have had my fair share of the - light and fluffy - to - dark and dirty - titles in my years, unfortunately having to limit myself to the translated titles since I have been relatively busy with my bachelors/masters and other things over the years to properly learn a high level of Japanese but that is why it is nice to see more OELVN titles that can feel like the Japanese titles in story telling and I will admit, I am not afraid of 18+ for the sake of 18+ titles ( Nukige, you know). But in the end, telling a story is the important part and if it does not exist then I do not classify it as a Novel.

Dejay is looking to expand his capabilities with composing music as that is his passion.

Max is the highlight of this group as the character designs and story are entirely his. This is his world and I am happy to be a part of the process to make it into a visual reality for him. (If you couldn't tell, that is Max in the Kickstarter video and managing the page at this moment.)

The way Max wishes to convey the exploration is more related to the choices/flags in a typical VN. I have proposed a way to make it look nice by being a selective map scene where one can hover over the area they wish to go to and that would branch the story.
I recall the "RPS" title on here for those who remember it. In that title you used the map to select the area you wanted to go to and challenge that member of the "Rock, Paper, Scissors club". (It's been years, might not be the exact name of the club.)

Overall, glad to see some interest.
