Hello,
I've been working on a visual novel based on my own writing. It is a freeware visual novel and I intend to keep it free.
It is built with TyranoBuilder, Blender, Daz3D, and GIMP for post processing of CG renders.
The title: Two Clusters - Kain arc
Website:
http://www.twoclusters.com/
This story is set in Two Clusters universe set in far future of year 9600~. The main character is Kain, an ex-journalist who was forced to join space navy in order to feed himself.
He soon finds himself engulfed in wars and his journey begins in space.
This VN is played on the internet at

Introducing two (out of 3) main characters

Your art style is different compared to most of what is up here. I'm looking through all the science fiction visual novels. It seems there are not many.

I like a variety of stories, art styles, and themes. Also, I find it interesting to see spaceships and other future technology presented through 3D polygon graphics.
I don't often like seeing realistic humans portrayed with 3D graphics. In my opinion, I would rather see human characters who look less realistic -- more exaggerated, abstract, or wearing outfits which cover their faces. I think that 3D graphics can be effective when they show characters who are clearly not human, or characters who are meant to be unsettling or horrifying.

Think carefully about the scope of your story. Don't create more than you can manage. I understand that you might want to create a science fiction epic. Please keep in mind that it *can* be beneficial to design and finish a short story first. That might help you prepare to work on a longer, more complex story.
A few other questions to consider:
* How much time and effort can you commit to your story?
* What do you think is exceptional about your characters and your fictional world?
* If things go wrong, how will you make sure that your story gets completed? (I have seen some projects get cancelled due to a natural disaster, health problems, money concerns, computer crashes, and so on.)
* Will you benefit by giving yourself deadlines? Think about whether you can finish a section of your story by July 1 2016, or whether you can create a specific number of art assets by August 1 2016.

I've been writing the story ever since late 1980. My commitment to the story is pretty much unshakable.
It's just that I have a job and a life and sometimes I cannot have as much time as I want which is why I mention that it is a hobby project of mine.
Due to the nature of the story, realistic human figures are adequate and necessary.
For your questions,
1. I will stop when I ... drop dead. As I mentioned earlier, I've been writing the story as a hobby since late 1980.
2. The scale and the lore as well as story structure are my fondness. My recent dive into 3D CG has helped immensely to bring the world to a more easily acceptable format.
The overall story has no real main characters. Two Clusters is just a collection of people's lives. An arc ends -usually- when its associated main character dies. There are few exceptions to that.
3. The story goes on for several thousands of years. Personally, I don't see it will finish in my life time. I will stop when I am dead. That is it.
However, for the Kain arc which this game is about, it is about 600 pages worth. There are already about 200 pages released on the website while the game's content is about 40 pages worth.
The bottom line is I have no deadline.

It's good to see Sci-Fi Visual Novel !
Artworks look futuristic and detailed, with a little touch of Noir, but I like it

Will check it soon.

I am not dead. Yet anyway.
As of Version 0.6.4, I've reworked some of very early CGs in chapter 1. Basically, I've tried to polish chapter 1 which was very rough around edges when it was first published.
There are numerous improvements to graphics overall. Basically, I've become better at Blender (CG application).

Huge update for the game. I updated the first post.
I am starting to implement my own character models instead of using stock 3D assets.
