The art is very beautiful! Something about Mary's character design is captivating, though I can't place my finger on what.

"Hey. That's pretty. Oh my god who is that blonde?"

I absolutely love Cassandra's design. Also Bridget's is great.

That little head butt CG is impressive and eye-catching. The usage of color and shading is pretty great in your CGs. I'm a little disappointed by the projected length, though. The male designs are also fairly weak compared to your fairly strong female designs.
Divona wrote: What is your expectation from this project?
Seems like it will be good, but I have the feeling it's going to be great for the length, and then leave me wanting more at the end. I hope you add more content in.
Divona wrote: Art style look 'anime' or 'western' to you?[/list]
In my opinion, it looks more western than anime. Aside from the character designs, the use of shading and illustrative detail reminds me more of comic book styles you see around. The faces absolutely have an anime-like quality, but the overall composition of the CGs I've seen and the character's designs appears to be more western inspired. And I think you've found a great mix of the two.

What is your first impression on this project?
It got me right into the story! The way it started and the parallax/dynamic scenes really increase the reading experience, i love it!

What is your expectation from this project?
The quality certainly is there already, i can imagine how much time and passion you invested in it. It will be a great game, I'm sure of it!

Art style look 'anime' or 'western' to you?
In my opinion it is a blend of the two styles. I personally like how it is presented. It is not only a matter of characters and sprite designs, I like how the background elements are done. It is a style which i can't really set it to either anime or western. It is beautiful xD

Well being born in New Zealand, it somehow got me more into interested in it now xD
(didn't read all the infos before i played the game, i jumped right into the demo)

Keep it up, This is certainly one of my favorite projects i am awaiting for the finished version :D

Thanks! Perhaps it's her smile?
NaiDriftlin wrote:That little head butt CG is impressive and eye-catching.
I sent this feedback to the writer. Here is his response:
"'head butt CG'? that's funny"
NaiDriftlin wrote:I'm a little disappointed by the projected length, though. The male designs are also fairly weak compared to your fairly strong female designs.
Thanks for the feedback! I understand about the project length, but as this is our first visual novel project as well as being a rather low budget and on tight schedule, this is the most we could do with the resources we have. With The Falconers being a multimedia IP, you can read the side story "The Falconers: Fort Eden" written by our writer and Christ Kluwe, which is set in the same universe, same country, but in another town down south of New Zealand. It's already up to chapter 12 and more to come.

I take noticed on the design for the male characters. It could be the clothes that they're wearing, which is rather plain compare to all the ladies. We do based the design according to the actual historical design, and clothes for male back then look kinda plain as well. If you have some suggestion, I'll take that to our artist and see what she can do. :?
Shiroisalva5 wrote:It got me right into the story! The way it started and the parallax/dynamic scenes really increase the reading experience, i love it!
I'm glad you like what you see. We do experiencing with the framing quite a lot in this project. More closely resembling to composite work in film than standard visual novel.
Shiroisalva5 wrote:Well being born in New Zealand, it somehow got me more into interested in it now
Woot. It's great having feedback from another Kiwi. :D The Falconers: Moonlight does based on the historical facts, I'm sure you will get to learn something about the 19th century New Zealand history along the way.

Just played the demo and I have to say I'm intrigued. Hunters fighting giant insects and arachea behind the scenes of history? Considering the short span of the demo, you guys did well in delivering on a lot of criteria of whether this will be a good story.

A good story usually has a good start to get the reader invested, and the very first minute of this game already convinced me of that. The introduction of the story setting was fast but not rushed, always difficult to find a balance there in but you managed to do so. And the art style? You already convinced me with the first glance of this thread. The game itself didn't disappoint me there either, from the opening scene art to such small touches like the table overlapping, I liked Ares's work. The only thing I didn't like were Weka's eyes, which seemed to be twice as big as the rest of the cast, I really hope you'll fix that (unless it's a hint that he's secretly a culler).

And I remember playing Path of Exile from a few years ago, which is really giving me hope for this story. Considering how the overall despair, decay and cynical weariness of that game remained interesting and new where many big-production (semi-)MMO's fail to make their storylines even somewhat interesting, a visual novel should yield even better results. If McRae can do anything like that again here, it'll be a great story.

The only part I was almost going to be negative about was the choice system. At first it seemed like it was one of those questions where the answer didn't matter because you'd speak with both suspects either way, and that's the kind of feeling you do not want to give your reader. If they feel like the choices they make don't matter, it's almost better not to give any choices at all. But then I noticed the difference in Weka's financial situation caused by the choice. If those subtle changes have an effect on the story later, then I'm going to be amazed. Still a bit cautious that I might be a bit too optimistic here, so please, be wary of irrelevant questions.

What is your first impression on this project?
Art style? Yes. Writing? Yes. Plot? We'll have to see where it goes, but if it's willing to go bloody and grim like with Culler scene but all over town, YES! So positive.

Art style look 'anime' or 'western' to you?
Little of both, leaning to western if we're talking comic book art styles.

What do you think of the Preview Demo?
See the above. One thing though, I saw that there was a goo.gl survey of sorts mentioned in the VN. You might want to give a link of it here or on your home page considering you can't copy paste that link from the game. (Alternatively, you can do this (not sure if it'll work like this, but this should give you the option to allow the player to go directly to the survey):

Code: Select all

Menu: 'Do you want to take the survey?':
'Yes':
os.system('start "link" "https://<link>"')

'No':
<rest of the game>
)

Woah! A NZ visual novel! I feel excited to see a visual novel from my home.
Are you guys a kiwi studio?
Would have been keen to hear some traditional Maori sounds in the music, but either way, I don't often buy visual novels because I'm always so busy making them, but I will probably end up buying this one because I feel close to it. (Depending on if it will break the bank or not, students are poor.)

For the art style, it feels like a cross between western and anime, which is really awesome. I am really really impressed with the backgrounds, they look beautiful and their unique style suits the mood and characters brilliantly.

Is he, or is he not. That's a good question.

With the length of the preview demo, it is tough to show where the choice would have actually leads to at this point. Worry not. Every choices come consequences, a butterfly effect.

Ah, you must have play a test build for preview demo. Those survey was to help see if most system will run the visual novel fine, with all the effects we used in it. Thanks for the code, though. The link at the end there actually can be click, and it will open the survey page. I should have put a button there instead of just a text link to indicated that it can be click. Point taken for future UI design. Cheers, and thanks for your feedback. :D

Way! It's great to have more Kiwi around. Bionic Penguin was based in Wellington, New Zealand. Now we based in Thailand. Still working with Kiwi, though. Our writer is.
