[...]
How do I move characters left and right instead of middle?
Say you have Alice and Bob.
To make Alice sprite appear left and Bob appear right, you type:

show alice at left
show bob at right

To move Alice from right to left, try:

show alice at right
show alice at left with move

To remove Bob from the scene, going from left to right, use:

show bob at left
hide bob with moveoutright

So it all boils down to these instructions:

show sprite at right/left/center
show sprite at right/left/center with move
hide sprite with moveoutright/moveoutleft/moveouttop/moveoutbottom

The remainder of your doubts will have to be solved by someone more experienced.
Yes, my english is awful. Deal with it.

Thank you for the speedy reply!

Hope your projects go excellently!

You have to define it as an image. Say you have Alice again, and her "mad" sprite is "alicemad.png"...

init:
image alicemadflip = im.Flip("alicemad.png", vertical=True)

Then you call it like this:

show alicemad
a 'Where are you, Bob?'
show alicemadflip
a 'WHERE. ARE. YOU?'
Yes, my english is awful. Deal with it.

Thanks again!

Due to this thread being moved to the Bigger Leagues (Ideas->WIP) I had to clean up my original post to make it look professional.

Also have a cool photo of a new character!

Hey, just saw the Tech help part of your project.

If you are trying to get only the character's head inside of the textbox, then I would recommend creating a separate image.

So you would have an image for full sprite, and a different image for just the head.
Then, you can use the same code that you have, except use the image for just the head.

Hope this helps out!

Edit: By the way, I really like the detail in the character faces!

Well, how to explain. Art is a fairly subjective thing.

In my perception, first glance and I see that the art style is relatively simple.
It's not vibrant colors and gradients. This leads to the next effect.

Within the next few milliseconds, my focus instinctively closes in on the character faces.
And I realize they are quite detailed! You seem to get the expressions just right.
These expressions give the characters good personality in my opinion.

So, I think you give a good level of detail to the faces. ^^

Are you planning on giving each of the characters different facial expressions?

Also, I think Mr. K looks the coolest. ^^

Glad to hear that your thoughts on the characters, especially Mr K :)

I'd like to give them different expressions (pending on skill/other artist's skills/timeline) because this will be a free edition. And if money is in the equation in the future, the whole VN shall be remastered in everything.

I enjoy the process of this VN :D hope we can push each other to make great VN!

Music prelim done. If you like your quality of music I suggest you don't listen to it. The Theme music is already on the opening post so I didn't re-post. I don't have a Musician besides myself, so it's all piano recording with potato camera, gonna re-mix with Reaper when I can.

Keeping the positive momentum up! :)

Next step is plot, which has 3-4K words :( but I know how it begins and ends and the twists in between :)

Navneta shall be Linear VN currently.

This is fun :D

Rough plotline done! 24 Chapters done! Time to add all the quotes and then demo is out!
Have a snippet of the plot!

Code: Select all

jj/j - Cello
d - Magneta
e - Kid
f - Grandmaster
h - Zurc

    jj "WHAT ARE THOSEEEEEEEEEE!"
    "Points at her shoes"
    d "..."
    d "Comfortable... boots?"
jj "What the hell... NO! JUST NO!"
d "You're telling me that a single pair of shoes is your sole justification to kill me?!?"
    jj "YES!"
e "What are they talking about."
    f "..."
    f "Fashion..."
    e "..."
j "Cello cries at night when he sees terrible footwear."
j "They are the tyres to the car. They bind you to this earth!"
j "How could you torture your poor poor feet like this!"
d "Say the same thing yourself... what the hell are those jester shoes you are wearing!"
f "So... Kid, should we save her..."
    "Kid is gone"
    f "Where did you go?"
j "Bitch please, these are an upgrade from jesters!"
j "Fashioned from extinct red elephant tusks, these are the rarest of the Alvinci collection!"
j "They are the best shoes for shoe-otaku's like myself!"
    d "You're mad!"
    e "I AGREEEE"
j "Yes you are right! I'm mad because you don't understand the fundamental aspects of fashion!"
    j "..."
    "turns to Kid."
    j "Who are you Capman?"
    "Kid defeats Cello"
e "I'm killing you because you weird me out!"
j "Wait! Don't kill me just yet!"
    j "Two things:"
j "Nice Noke Runners by the way,"
    e "Thanks!"
    d "ANGER... RISING..."
j "where did you get them in Ezo?"
e "That's what they were called?"
j "What the hell! Another fashion unbeliever."
    e "And the second?"
j "Unbutton the bottom part of your blazer it's, ugh..."
"Cello faints, and Grandmaster, Kid and Magneta look on in stunned silence."
    f "..."
f "Why is this guy a Hero?"
h "He is a fabulous man! THATS WHY"
