Mirt [Mystery|Drama|Thriller|Magical realism]

#1 Post by MilaOlivson »

Mirt. The Tales of the Cold Lands
A mystical visual novel where your choices really matter

Download in Steam https://store.steampowered.com/app/6205 ... Cold_Land/

Image

Mirt is a small town, lost somewhere in the northern valleys, welcoming none. Everything is frozen here, even time itself. A newcomer will have difficulties getting used to the snow in the middle of summer, the strange natives, each of whom knows something, though never tells, and most of all — to the story of Mirt, not a long history, but already full of secrets.

Image

Anton is an ordinary student. Not having enough money, he decides to go to Mirt for the summer. The beginning of his stay is relaxing but fairly uneventful: easy but well-paid work, a small room, and new friends. But soon the Mirt's past begins to show itself and Anton has to become a detective for a while to figure out what's going on.

Can a girl from a cafe see the future? What made a young woman commit suicide? Who or what did kill the new arrivals some years ago? And, last but now least, why did his shadow suddenly become a few shades brighter?

Image

This is a novel about being lonely, about destiny, about people, chosen by the stars to meet, seeing each other at last. About being strong and ready to self-sacrifice, about forgiveness and, of course, about twists and turns of time.

Image

This is what we have prepared for you:

• more than 20 unique characters
• being fully into the atmosphere of northern magical town
• lots of ways to finish the main story, depending only on your choices
• stylish art, defining this novel from others
• 5 episodes, and in each you have a few characters to lead
• lots of secrets and illusions
• and a story, which holds your attention till the very last second!

Oooh, this seems interesting. :o

(Your English is perfect, by the way. I'm a total stickler for grammar and I wouldn't have guessed that you weren't native. c:)

I like the character designs. They don't remind me of a specific artist or a specific work. Were the drawings inspired by anything?

Will the story be released as five separate episodes? Or will it be a standalone release which has five chapters?

Not really. We were imagining them in process :)

The episodes will be released separately. The first is to be released by the end of autumn.
Thank you for taking an interest.

This looks very interesting to me. I'm especially drawn to the unique, painterly backgrounds. That is some great work, already giving me a lovely sense of the atmosphere you are going for. You also gave me just enough about the story to get me interested and make me want to know more. The last two paragraphs of the story description were what really drew me in. The other stuff was almost unnecessary.

Your English is generally good in your post - but I noticed a couple problems in your images. However I'm not sure if you're looking for feedback on that or if you plan to leave that to your translator. ;)

Good luck, I'll be interested in hearing more about the project.

Thank you! I still need feedback, every correction would be really helpful.

In that case, here you go:

1. In Mark's quote, his speech is too casual, compared to the other quotes. It should be either "What are you gonna do when it all comes out?" (still somewhat casual), "What are you going to do when it all comes out?" (proper grammar but a little wordy) or "What will you do when it all comes out?" (proper grammar, more concise).

2. In the first screenshot, the structure of Veronika's sentence is a little mixed up. It should be "I only wanted to warn you!"

Other than that the English is looking good!

I would argue with number one. It's true that his quote is casual by comparison, but that could be intentional. It depends on what you guys (the developers) had intended for his character.

I would change number two like RedOwl suggested; it's not technically wrong to write it how it is and everyone reading it would understand the intention, but it is definitely smoother with RedOwl's correction.

Yeah, I agree with you on that. If the casual tone is an intentional part of his character, go for it! However, given context clues (his formal attire, the style of the other quotes), I assumed that tone wasn't intentional. :)
