Void Call
"To explore beyond the human boundaries of space!
Void call is set in the year 2103, 26 years after the development of the Alcui Drive which allows for travel through space by contracting space in front and expanding space behind a spacecraft. Humanity has been exploring space close to the Sol system and has not encountered any alien life so far. Your team of three was selected by the organization S.E.R.I (Space Exploration & Research
Institute) to explore beyond where humanity has been so far to gather data from all sorts planets, stars, systems, etc. for further research.
Where will you go? What will you encounter? How will you handle dangerous situations? Well, all that remains to be seen.
Character Profiles-
Edward Scott (PC)
Edward is a average kind of person who is serious when he needs to be and a carefree person when otherwise.
His Father and Mother are retired and still live their lives on Luna.
He enjoys playing in virtual reality simulations, and looking at the stars no matter where he is at.
Jessica Cherish
She is generally a relaxed and somewhat naive person. She enjoys working on computers and programming in three different computer languages.
Her mother recently died due to old age.
Oscar Evans
Oscar is a very sarcastic and carefree person that jokes around quite a bit. He enjoys flying ships and even is sometimes found asleep in the flight chair. He is extremely touchy on the topic of the G.S.O incident he was involved in, but still plays VR games from time to time; he stays clear of the VReal full dive system and uses the GraVR systems instead.
The game is currently still in it's story writing stages, but is making a lot of progress. If you want to help with the story visit our recruitment page. Here

Re: v.call(Void Call);
Would you describe this as a form of faster-than-light travel?Ragnos wrote:...26 years after the development of the Alcui Drive which allows for travel through space by contracting space in front and expanding space behind a spacecraft...
1. How much input will the reader have? Will their choices determine where the characters go, and what they'll do?Ragnos wrote:Where will you go? What will you encounter? How will you handle dangerous situations?
2. Is this a straightforward visual novel -- a story where choices result in varied endings? Or is it more of a video game with complex gameplay and interactive elements?
3. What sort of worlds will the story feature?
4. Where might this story rank on a scale of science fiction "hardness"?
Re: v.call(Void Call);
The "Faster-than-light" travel isn't the ship traveling through space but rather space moving around the ship. The concept of travel comes from the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alcubierre_drive Alcubierre Drive which is a theoretically possible way of travel.
1. The input is so far quite few; however, currently the choices made have significant differences in story.
2. Originally it was going to be straight forward, with multiple stories that unfold dependent on the player's actions, but I'm thinking of also adding in a lot of interactive elements and possibly RPG gameplay later. I'm currently indecisive about that right now.
3. Right now there is a lava world where the lava is blue (due to the high amount of sulfur) an ice world that is constantly eclipsed by a larger planet; so, so far the worlds are interesting and also scientifically possible.
4. In every aspect I research into the theoretical possibility of worlds, lifeforms, environments, etc. I'm making sure it's all a relatively possible. I'll only put in non-possible elements if I absolutely have to.
The final thing is even though I do a lot of research, it doesn't beat having a nice conversation with like-minded and smart people. Which I'm having a hard time finding. XD

Re: v.call(Void Call);
Progress so far has been good, in the story writing. I've finished work on balancing out both current story branches, and I'm beginning to start on exploration of a cruiser that the party gets taken to it's also the first encounter with an alien species called the Kepans.
