To Trust an Incubus (Kickstarter) 5 DAYS LEFT! [NSFW] [yaoi] [bara] [bxb][sci-fi] [adults only] [erotic] [dating sim]

Hi everyone! :D

At long last we've gone live with the Kickstarter for our bara/yaoi sci-fi dating sim To Trust an Incubus. We have a substantial demo and a trailer with voice acting. Check it out on the Kickstarter page here:

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/70 ... ing-sim-vi

Image

To Trust an Incubus is the story of Kenta, your average temp worker, who gets a job in a lab that's holding four muscly incubi in quarantine. They came through Professor Raiden's interdimensional portal like several other beings who visited before them.

The problem is that past interdimensional visitors have warned Professor Raiden about incubi that look just like these ones. They might be ravagers scouting Earth to plunder it.

The top linguist who works for the lab can barely communicate with the incubi. He's figured out the incubi need to bond with someone in order to learn their language.

Will Kenta be the one to 'bond' with one of the incubi? And if so will he be able to figure out if they're the evil ravagers or some other benign race?

Image

To Trust an Incubus has four routes and twenty-four endings based on a stats system. Will the incubi stay in our world? Will Kenta get a permanent job? Make the right choices to get the happily-ever-after for everyone endings, or the wrong ones to get some effed-up endings.

Multiple ships sail, meaning there is a hot and heavy love story between Kenta and the incubus he picks, but other characters are 'mingling' around them also: Incubus/Incubus! Professor/Incubus! Arata/Incubus! Professor/Arata!

Each incubus has a back story that makes them hate, love, or need the other incubi in the quarantine. Unlock every thread and achieve numerous incubus couplings including enemies to lovers and hurt/comfort pairings.

This is a 150,000 word game by master male/male author Yamila Abraham, the writer of UnPrison, Winter Demon, and Yaoi Hentai. Abraham creates complex and emotional narratives without skimping on the raunch.

Prominent graphic novel artists Studio Kosen are experts at sexy muscular men who appeal to both bara and yaoi fans. The two Spaniard studio are former Expo Manga winners.

Bara mega-fan Steven Nunez consulted on the game, giving a gay man's perspective throughout. With his professional sound studio he will be casting and producing the voice acting. Partial voice acting is guaranteed for To Trust an Incubus. Full voice acting is a stretch goal.

To Trust an Incubus will have an original sound track of 19 songs and over 200 computer graphics to illustrate every spicy scene. This doesn't include variations of base scenes, so the CGs in the demo only count as 30 images toward this number.

If stretch goals are met there will be a dense body hair toggle, animated scenes, threesomes, after story scenes, all characters becoming versatile (tops or bottoms), mini-games, spanking, and full voice acting!

Wow. It's been awhile since I've seen such a big budget VN on this forums (then again I haven't been lurking that much). All the best with achieving your goals!
The art looks good and the story looks promising enough, although I'm curious just how much plot there is (or if it's going to be mostly just sex-heavy).
Good luck achieving your kick starter goal!

Thanks Arosia!! I just couldn't figure that out.

And thanks for the feedback, guys! I really hope we can make this game.

AsHLex, It's got a good story with the backgrounds of the incubi and how they all related to each other in their home world. I made it so that the sex was necessary to the plot (to unlock the incubi) because this is meant to be an adults only bara game. The story has a lot of tenderness, angst, and recovery among other things. I don't think people will say it's just porn with the 150k story.

Yeah, I figured for such a long story it probably wouldn't just be porn, haha. Thanks for clarifying!
Sounds intriguing! Will definitely be keeping an eye out for this one :)

Hello.

Well, the first surge of emotions has passed, so now I can think about the content of the game - not just beautiful illustrations. Visually, there is nothing to complain about.

Please do not think that I'm trying to attack. I just want to clarify a number of nuances. Not everything is clear to me, and not everything sounds nice.

You wrote about angst. I do not ask for spoilers, but what should the players be ready for? I asked about this other developers of BL VNs. Potential players can have the disorders (like PTSD) and obsessions, which may cause severe stress. What do you mean by "angst"? Fear? Rape? Torture? Anything worse than listed?

Are you afraid that people will call your game pornography? Do you think that this is something bad, and are ready to condemn all people working in this industry? In addition, not quantity is an indicator of quality. I know an excellent game with a minimum of text, but a deep and thoughtful story. And I know the game with a lot of dialogues and texts, but with such a bad and chaotic story that it would be better if the game was completely without a plot.

Also said about the presence of good and bad endings. I've seen games that do not have good endings - only a few bad ones and a true bad one. I wonder when there will be games with a set of only good endings. I do not understand the tradition of doing good and bad. As if someone is teaching people that tragedy is something clever and great. As a teacher, linguist and philologist, I'm upset.

I believe that people should bravely awaken in each other wonderful feelings, joy and love. If your players feel comfortable, if they do not feel embarrassed about their bodies and are not ashamed of their desires, it will be good. Bring them happiness.

As for the angst, you can go to the horror movies, thrillers and evening news. Dating Sim are not designed to feel fear and discomfort.

I wish you every success in your development. But much more I wish you to reconsider your attitude towards angst and bad endings...

Hi Ypressgames!

Usually I prefer my Bara uh...well, "bigger"? lol. If that makes any sense. However, I think you've left just enough mystery into how/why the incubi have decided to visit earth to peak my interest regardless. Although I love NFSW content in my yaoi/bara games, I so much prefer there to be an excellent story behind it, and infact I'd rather play a yaoi/bara game w/o NSFW content but a compelling story than a well drawn porn game (like Bacchikoi for example).

Goodluck to you guys on reaching your KS goal! It's very high though, I wonder if that may be unrealistic.

Hi Magiriano!! Let's see if I can dig into this.
I try to keep it very light. No non-con. Torture is alluded to but not described. Some of the incubi had a rough time in their home dimension. I've been writing gay romance for a living for 14 years. I know what to avoid. The game should not trigger anyone. Most of the time it stays sexy and light.
Are you afraid that people will call your game pornography? Do you think that this is something bad, and are ready to condemn all people working in this industry?
Heck no!! I didn't mean that at all! My old bff works at a brothel, so I'm definitely not condemning the industry!! I write porn stories and have published porn graphic novels in the past. What I meant to say is that it's not a PWP (plot? what plot?). Sure people will call TTAI porn because it has graphic sex, and technically it qualifies as such, but I think most people will also see there is a deep and moving story and it's not JUST about the sex. It's more erotic romance. (With cocks.)
In addition, not quantity is an indicator of quality. I know an excellent game with a minimum of text, but a deep and thoughtful story. And I know the game with a lot of dialogues and texts, but with such a bad and chaotic story that it would be better if the game was completely without a plot.
Agreed! Did you play the demo? What's your take on us so far? :) I think what we set up is a reasonably good indicator of what's to come.
I felt to make an intricate game with a lot of replay value there had to be bad endings as well as good. It's easy enough to avoid them by treating your partner right and giving them what they need. They are complex characters and have the capacity to react badly to stuff that happens to them as well as good. I'm sorry it upsets you! Honestly, you can avoid the bad endings very easily. The options give you a clear choice of what path you want to take in the game.
I believe that people should bravely awaken in each other wonderful feelings, joy and love. If your players feel comfortable, if they do not feel embarrassed about their bodies and are not ashamed of their desires, it will be good. Bring them happiness.

Thank you! You sound like a very open-minded and soulful person. :)
I wish you every success in your development. But much more I wish you to reconsider your attitude towards angst and bad endings...
I absolutely listen to my backers. If the tell me to ditch the bad endings, they will be gone. So far, in the FB group and other places, people seem to like the idea. I did some writing for Choice of Games the Interactive fiction publisher. They taught me that if you have a bad ending you should make it spectacular. It should end the game for the player, but in a way so awesome they'll immediately want to restart and play again. That's what I sought out to do, and I really think it adds value to the final product.

But I like them the way they are! :( (Heck, Vald is almost too big, really...) I think having a range of body sizes (from the immense Vald to the slim Saji and Devi) would be the best idea. In fact, Saji could possibly be even slimmer than he is now, just to make him more noticeably different...

I guess on the good/bad ending front, I'm fine with the existence of bad endings, but I would certainly prefer it if the good endings were easier to get, and didn't require 100% "correct" choices.

I do have a couple of problems with the current demo, though. The first is pretty much just a minor quibble really: I don't think many guys in Japan are circumcised. This doesn't affect the incubi, since their culture is something different, but Kenta really should be sporting a foreskin... I guess it's basically artistic license, though, and you could claim that he's one of the small percentage of circumcised Japanese guys.

Secondly, and more importantly, there seems to be a weird dissonance between how the incubi talk about bonding (that it's a super special thing in their culture), and what they actually do (use sex-magic to get with a guy they literally just met...) I should note that I don't feel that what happened was rape, since it's clear that Raiden and Arata were able to resist the sex-magic, implying that it was more about making Kenta comfortable with the idea than about forcing him to say yes. Also, I don't feel that there's anything wrong with having sex with someone you just met, if that's what you want, and I realise that the incubi are pretty desperate at this point, but it does feel as though the incubi are being pretty hypocritical about the whole thing. It feels almost like "You had sex with me, which is something *I* wanted, so now you owe me..." I mean, that could be what you're going for, but it certainly makes me less inclined to actually help them.

No, I have not played yet. I do not like to tease myself with demo versions too often, and then very, very long wait for the game. I'll try to play a little later, if I do not find any videos on YouTube.

I understand and appreciate your idea.

For me, bad endings have nothing to do with replayability. They often discourage the desire to play, rather than encourage stubbornly to seek a good ending, which, perhaps, does not exist. Did you play "No, Thank You!!"? This game has interesting stories, entertaining characters, but it does not have good endings. There are more and less bad endings, but the stories of all the side characters will also end badly. I can hardly imagine how anyone can enjoy this. As if I tried my best to help everyone, but in the end everything just got worse.

Probably most people do not speak out against bad endings, since the very idea of a bad ending is supported by two basic arguments. Although I wrote that these are arguments, the first of these is not an argument, but a protest against excessively sugary and unnatural happy endings (a vivid example of that is the sharp endings of Disney cartoons or japanese-style role-playing games, where good guys, even in paradoxical circumstances, are swiftly defeating bad guys).

Strangely enough, the second argument is also not entirely an argument. It's a habit to perceive good, bad and true endings in games (especially visual novels) as something normal. For dozens of years, thousands of games have come out with these unbreakable rules, so everyone is just used to taking it as a necessity.

I do not insist on my wishes and reflections. I've seen games without good endings many times. Most often these were horrors. But the games without bad endings... in the genre of yaoi did not occur.

Since we are talking about the appearance of demons...

Maybe I'm wrong gay (and wrong bottom), but I'm not attracted by a pronounced musculature. Very big and strong men - this is not something that could excite me. Muscular bodies are felt as rigid and dangerous for me. Demons look attractive, but they are like actors from adult movies.

You may not believe me, but their bodies look very similar, because they are all muscular, regardless of height and build. I do not mind it, because they are all very beautiful, and I liked the style of Kosen when I read the manga "Stallion", but such guys can not impress me with their muscles.

In this regard, I have a cultural question. Is there a connection between the demons in your game and the demons described in the religious texts? Or are your demons coming from an alternate reality and being only similar to the Christian incubus, but not a copy?

This is an interesting remark.
When we come to confession, in most cases we do not know the priest, whom we tell about ourselves. When we come to a psychotherapist, we also open many details of a private life to a stranger. Sex with a stranger is justifiable for this reason - it is morally easier to show nudity to a person with whom we are not bound by social ties, because at this moment both people are strangers to each other. "No hidden catch, no strings attached, just freelove". :)

P.S. ypressgames, how about the harem ending and gangbang? :P

This is kinda my point: with the incubi, there *is* a hidden catch: now you've "bonded", they'll morally blackmail you into helping them escape, and I'm not sure that was what was intended...

good god, THIS IS GOLD!

I was sold the minute I saw the art and you did such a great job with the trailer! I'm currently working on the trailer myself and I finding it so difficult. Yours really tells a story, and has such a great voice acting. You had really highlighted the best parts of the game without making it -here's our backgrounds, here's our random characters - that you so often see with VNs. (plus some japanese song in the bg)

Also other parts I'm really sold on:
- the characters are older (tired of seeing 15 years olds)
- mature erotic game with great art (such a nice anatomy on the poses you showcases so far! <3 makes me wonder what else is coming!)
- sci fi is my favourite setting of life
- really curious what about that "bonding" the boss dude tells his agent...what will it mean, what level of bonding are we talking here...only sexual, emotional? what's gonna happen to poor Kenta XD..looking forward to finding out!
- and again the voice acting - I think its one of the parts of the game that really make it worth playing. by the trailer I can tell the voice over is promising!

going to check the KS right now :) Good luck and will definitely be following your progress!
