An explosion occurred in the shopping mall. Daniel, who was there during the event, is now plunged into the dark. He has no idea what happened, and have no light source to help him.

Fortunately, he's not alone in the darkness. He will soon meet a mysterious woman: Themis. She knows how to deal with the dark, which is a precious help.

Other survivers will join them, and everybody seeks for a way to get out of here. But in pitch black dark, many things are possible... Especially those you can't see.

De Profundis is an interactive fiction developped by points contigus with Ren'py.

Its duration ranges from 6 to 8 hours depending on your reading speed.

It is a story about suspense and mystery. Main influences are the Infinity series (Ever 17, Remember 11) and the When they cry series (Higurashi, Umineko).

It got a unique presentation, to reflect the situation in which the main character evolves. Particular care was taken to the sound and musical athmospheres. That's why you may call it a musical novel, as there are very few pictures involved.

Character voices are not dubbed, but are instead accompanied by notes from musical instruments, with each character having its own instrument. The dialog merges smoothly with the background, resulting in music that follows the player's own rythm.

The game is only in french language. We plan to release a translation. If you're interested in this translation project and want to participate, please let us know.

This beta test version is semi-public: please do not share it anywhere else during the beta test process.
