I also want to note that while this isn't a horror game, it contains body horror and has discussions of suicide, murder, and death as an abstract.
For those still interested, let's get to the game info.
Plot
A few months ago, the dead started coming back to life. But instead of acting like mindless cannibals, most risen were the same people they'd always been. There was a brief period of chaos, a flash of an apocalypse, but things calmed down once people realized the walking dead weren't a considerable threat.
This is where you come in. You're a simple civil servant, a cemetery groundskeeper of the modern type. Now that everyone knows the undead are still people, for all intents and purposes, it's your job to free those trapped in coffins.
Not that you have experience in this specific field. But it's a job, and somebody needs to do it.
Characters
Samuel ThatcherThe man you're replacing. You find him locked in the graveyard's toolshed.
Samuel's a rather private person. His stoic nature might make him come off as antisocial or rude, but he's always happy to help anyone brave enough to approach him, whether that means digging up a grave or lending a sympathetic ear.
Greyson Zhou
A suicide victim who hung himself in the nearby forest.
Greyson's sarcastic and hot-headed. He cares, arguably too much, about everyone and everything. Snarky jabs are the only thing keeping any distance between himself and others.
James Smith
A murder victim buried in the graveyard.
James is a man out of time, as he died in the 1930s. His friendly demeanor and optimistic outlook make him nearly saccharine, but he knows when to tone things down.
Progress
The sprites and one(out of seven) backgrounds are done, save for some tweaking. I haven't started working on the OST or GUI yet, I'd like to get the BGs finished first. As of 4/22, the script contains 11,977 words and 83 menus, which equals about four out of fourteen in-game days.
And I think that's all I've got, information-wise. If you have any questions about the game, feel free to ask them. Or just leave your general thoughts, if you like. That's fine too.
