If you like Butterfly Soup and also Street Fighteror 'super academy' driven stories, this one might be for you."I take everything I am feeling, everything that matters to me...
I push all of it...into my my fist.
And I fight for it."
~ Sun Bak; Sense8
The elevator pitch is that this is like a...LGBTQ+ fighting game backstory visual novel? With cumulative stat-driven effects?
Screenshots: DownRight Fierce is a visual novel I've been working on since the start of 2020 off and on in my spare time. It's been through a lot of adapting since the story's inception in 2014 (concept art gallery here), but I've made enough progress on the visual novel where I have a substantial alpha-esque demo and I feel more confident in this direction for the story. It tells the story of Nishiko Shimomura and the three women whose lives become entangled with theirs. I'm drawing inspiration from the 'telltale-esque' brand of story where the main narrative proceeds like a tree trunk, with various branches and leaves that grow in different directions off of it based on player choice, though ideally in cumulative ways that will be more organic and meaningful down the line. I'm currently implementing a stat-based system not unlike more retro visual novel dating sims. While not a dating sim in particular, the story does feature altered dialogue and will later have special scenes implemented based on if the reader tries to romance characters.
The current build has a prologue and the first three chapters.
-Windows demo version-
-Mac demo version-
Please keep in mind:
- this is still a private, non-public-facing demo, I'm just trying to get some feedback from visual novel enthusiasts
(once more content is implemented in the visual department I intend to upload a public demo to itchio)
- backgrounds and visual effects are still mainly placeholders
- character sprites and UI still need touching up and potential additions
(you'll notice Nishiko has an altered shaded sprite but this effect hasn't been fully implemented across the sprites)
- I've only barely implemented sound effects and at least some of what's here is placeholder
- most music here is pretty much finalized as it's largely either original compositions for this story or from zircon's discography with his blessing
- this demo ends with a bit of a 'stinger' that probably won't be included in a full release, it's there to pique curiosity

If you are anxious, you are living in the future.
If you are at peace, you are living in the present.”

Almost forgot, a special thanks to user Syrale for helping me work out the visual stat effect.
