Sunrider FIRST BETA! Preview! Tech Demo!

#1 Post by Samu-kun »

The BETA of Episode 0.5 is now available.

What does the beta contain?
  • The stunning beginning of Sunrider
  • Renpy, being pushed to the limits
  • Cutting edge special effects
  • Meet Ava, your First Officer and your old childhood friend
  • A new standard for free visual novels
Anything beyond that would be spoiling. =w=

Oh... and oops, what is this? A special omake!? *jaw drops*

This is the BETA version of Episode 0.5.
If you encounter any bugs, please leave them in this thread. In fact, try to mess around with the game a bit and try to make it bug so that the final version is stable. =w=

This seems great! Downloading...

EDIT:
- This first combat is amazing. The parallax effect, the missile movements and hits, the lasers... they are spectacular.
- With only one ship the combat was simple, I imagine that the tactical moves will be more clever in more complex battles. I'm not sure about the menu-system for the battle, I mean: selecting ship, then attack/movement, then what attack or what movement, all this with menus... it seems that a screen approach, would be quicker, more intuitive and "realistic" (and harder to code, though).
- The font size for the dialog is a bit small (only IMO).
- The music selection really fits (and creates) the intended atmosphere.
- I haven't found errors when playing with the combat system.

Some little ideas:
- I think I've found a typo ("She's prepped to go on your word, sir.")
- In the initial menu, when you can ask for information about the ship, the orange alert or go on, variables to hide the already-selected options would be nice.

Got to the first battle. I do very much like the graphical style of the game. Tell me, who did the starship designs and animations? Did you use any publicly available resources?

That said, it made my poor netbook struggle mightily and then BSOD. Knowing the minimum requirements would be nice. I'll look for the traceback; PM me for details?
She's sun and rain: She's fire and ice. A little crazy, but it's nice.

I think most laptops and computers from the past two years should be able to play with no problems. No net books though, that's not going to work.

I made the starships and programmed the ATL. The sfx, music, and some of the textures are CC. That's all in the credits that you can't see until the end. XD
