PUGATE beta [Dating Sim/Time Management/MxF/Romance]

From the creators of Princess’s Pet and Doge Vision, we present to you our latest project: PUGATE (aka Pick up girls at the end of the world). It's part of our self imposed one month challenge.

The story synopsis is pretty simple: One day, every person on Earth suddenly has the same dream of a strange woman announcing the end of the world in 7 days. You’re a normal boring college student who has no experience with romance and the like. Will you be able to find your significant other before the world ends?

There’ll be 4 lovely ladies in the game with their own personality. But just like you, they aren’t immune to the doom day curse. 2 million people die from the head injury caused by their slippery bathroom’s floors during the first day of the Apocalypse week and it seems like you won’t be safe wherever you go. Good luck with managing how you spend your time and do your best to survive until you find true love (if she lives to see the day you finally work up the gut to confess to her)

The game will last 7 days but due to this being the beta version, you can only play up until the 4th days. Each days has 5 phases and you have to choose which action to perform. Each ladies has their favorite spot to hangout so you’ll bump into them eventually, and like every other dating sims game, pay attention to your stats. It’ll help you more than you think.

Keep in mind that it’s really easy to die and receive a gameover so you should probably visit the LANDLADY’s house for a little fortunetelling on how to prevent said deaths. (And SAVE a lot!!! Press esc to go to the save screen)

Things that will be featured in the beta:
The ability to name the main character (how cool is that?!!!!)
Time management
2 events for each girls
Things that will be in the full game (WHICH WILL BE RELEASED ON 7/31 IF WE’RE COMPETENT ENOUGH!!!!)
Better looking and easier to navigate GUI
CG
Random events and more scripted events
Shop (?) … maybe
No more bugs (if there’re any in the beta) and balancing of the death system (if it’s too brutal to your liking)
Secret routes
Music… Maybe…
PUGATE is a project we wish we could complete in one month but it seems like we failed miserably since the beta version is the only thing we could release after a month working (pretty hard) on it. But it doesn’t mean we gave up on it. Expect the full game to be out on 7/31!!!!!

Art, programming and writing done by me (Toki) and my cousin. Backgrounds took from Uncle Mugen’s and other places that offer free background.


TRIGGER WARNING:
Deaths is described but not explicit. Don’t play of you’re iffy about it.
Absolutely no music

Is the death system too unbearable? Which part would you like to see improved in the full game? Which characters is your favorite?

Well, you really hit the nail on the head when you said it is really easy to die, in your description of the game! I went through the demo seven or eight times, and got the "game over" most of the time when I was not very far into it. And I didn't seem to have any control over the outcome. Not my kind of game; I play these things for enjoyment, not annoyance.

So I wish you well in your endeavor, but I doubt that I will be returning here.

Please don't change everything on my account; since I appear to be the only one that has posted a comment to date, that doesn't make me "everyone". There may be a multitude of folks out there who think the game is just fine as is. It is just that my preference is to have some control over what happens to me in a story, based on my CHOICES, not by chance.

Ah please don't worry about that! The idea doesn't sit well with us too and we've been finding a way to change it around. Since this is a rushed release (the real thing we made in about 2 weeks), we'll have to change a lot of thing in the future. Like how your stats will affect the outcome or something!

I agree with philip. It doesn't seem like any of my choices matter. You need to either make the game less chaotic, or go in the direction of Save the Date (If you haven't played it yet, you really should. It's not very long and it's available free here:

) i.e. make the trial-and-error actually interesting and a real part of the game.
Also, I think that there are way too many things you can do on each day. You should limit it to around 3 choices (eg. Morning, Afternoon and Evening) instead of twelve.
To sum up, I think the game has potential but is quite flawed in it's current state. I would like to see a newer version of this.

Thank you for the feedbacks. It's super helpful. I'll check out that game right now. I do agree that we give too many options for a day. Also sorry for the super late reply, I didn't notice I hadn't subscribe to this thread :( Anyway, thank you again. We're currently very busy with stuffs in real life and didn't manage to meet the deadline but when we get around to finish it, we'll try our best to change.
