The plague came from the sea.
The Goddess of the Waves guided her last ship to safety, then died on Currents' shores.
But the ship's crew, all inflicted with a misterious disease, infected a rather big part of the population.

It was a strange disease, over in less than two weeks, but leaving Currents deprived of their Goddess and their Queen, Stephania.

Five years after the plague, Young Queen Caramela faces many challenges.

How will she fare?

Hierofania 2 is a labor of love, several years in the making.
It is also the work of a single person.

Unlike the making of Hierofania 1, when I made several "private" demos, and forced my friends to play them (You still deserve all the monuments, :devornamentall:) this time, I only made that very first demo
that only had the prologue and chapter 1.

I haven't had feedback on the writing of chapters 2 and 3. Ever.

Which means that, as usual, I'm a nervous wreck begging for your patience and assistance.



Native English Speakers:

I'm not one of you!
That's why. If you find any typoes, or grammar mistakes, please let me know!
(Crocket's speech in chapter 3 is meant to be rather choppy, as she doesn't speak the language spoken in Currents)


Programming savvy people:

I'm not one of you either!
I don't know how to do anything in RenPy. I cry when I see more than two lines of code.
I would really appreciate that if you think something should be programmed differently, you explained it to me as if you were explaining it to a not very smart farm animal. Maybe with pictures, or something. :D


Visual Novel Players:

(At least a category I can identify with!)

YOU DO NOT NEED TO HAVE PLAYED HIEROFANIA 1 to playtest the second. There's only a few recurring characters, and one of them only shows up in the epilogue.
The finished version will have a lot more cgs, more sound effects, and a few more songs.
But this is the story that will be told.


As I said above, nobody has taken a single look at it.
I would REALLY appreciate your thoughts on it.

Hi!
I LOVED THE GAME SO MUCH AAAAAHHHHH. AND I GET TO SEE CROCKET AGAIN YAY

I only found one bug. When you chose ignore Milly when she is trying to bring your attention to the war and her family, the ending isolated queen showed up funny. Instead of having a black background, the ending words were pasted on top of the background of Caramella's room.

Just a question, how many side stories are there?

Thanks a lot for the bug report!
I played it myself several times of course, but I can't pick on everything.
Seriously, thanks a lot, because thanks to you I can fix it. :)

Also, there is only one sidestory, Crocket's, and you get to see it after you get the Peacemaker Ending. (...But I'm guessing from your wording you might have seen it already?)

Thanks a lot for trying this demo out.

If anybody else has tried this demo, could you please tell me what you thought?
If it's bad, TELL ME. I'm still in time to fix things.

I can't play tonight, but I can over the next few days. I'll give you feedback for the game by the weekend. I loved the first one, so I know I'll enjoy this =).

Oh it seems you got rid of the file DX. You don't need to reupload it for if you don't want, but I do hope you'll keep with this. I really did love the first game.

I greatly enjoyed the first Hierofanía. I haven't been looking at any VN stuff for the past few months, so I just saw this now. And I thought it was amazing! I love how it expands the world. And the art! The backgrounds in particular are beautiful. And the main menu is one of my favorites.

I tried a few different choices and got
Neutral Queen, Hardworking Queen, and Peacemaker Queen.
Some thoughts:
The use of different POVs was interesting. I thought you did a good job showing the personalities in a few scenes through their actions and thoughts. And I think it helped with the Queen storyline, since she could be pretty self-centered; this way you knew other parts of the story.

One thing I wondered about was the effect of the death of the Goddess on Currents. Senteltje thought about the death itself quite a bit, and Caramela could mention maybe in the future getting a new deity, but otherwise I wasn't sure if there was any effect to the ships or ocean or anything like that. Maybe there's more in one of the routes I didn't play through yet, though.
My grammar is only so-so, and you may have changed some of this by now, but I wrote down the spelling errors and such that I noticed while playing, attached in the file.
