Creating Character and Background

When you draw the character how do you make it look real or make it seem likes the drawing was part of it.
If you can understand what I'm trying to say.
When your trying to get a background how do get it without it being blurry and it fits perfectly

1) Get someone who specializes in realism
2)Find images that are larger than what you need, then scale then to the size you need (Though make sure they can scale without stretching).
