When I first use tablet, I don't feel any discomfort, except now I have to accustomed myself staring at screen instead of area around my hand.
Just be sure to be very comfortable when using tablet. Don't look at tablet commercial about how they use it since it's very wrong. Spend an hour or two only to find the most comfortable drawing position (for you).
I guess it would hurt if she was using it wrong. I remember twisting my arm when i was playing around with my tablet. I agree, there is no discomfort. The only time i feel discomfort, is when the tablet doesnt feel smooth with any paint programs.
I mean if you hurt when using tablet, you're the one who's at fault, not the tablet. Like I said, usually you draw in uncomfortable/wrong position. Since drawing with tablet is no different than drawing with normal pen and paper, why you should position your body differently?
So if you hurt your wrist when drawing with tablet, then you should change your drawing position.
