Manga Studio 5.0 (Clip studio paint) Realsed (64bit,win/mac)

Article: http://news.mynavi.jp/news/2012/12/06/190/index.html or http://sankei.jp.msn.com/economy/news/1 ... 075-n1.htm (Japanese. I can't find any English articles yet.)

Manga studio 5.0 (Japanese name is Clip studio paint) is a newest 64bit paint application for windows and mac os. It will have both functions of Illust studio and Manga studio.
The article said Smith Micro Software released it, but It seems they didn't update their site.

Smith Micro has an English website available for its Manga Studio software. Right now, the product is on version 4. "Beginner" version is sold for $50 US, while the "Advanced" version is $300 US.

The same company also sells an animation program called Anime Studio.

I was very disappointed the last time I tried Manga Studio. Unless someone have a good word of it, I don't think I ever want to try it again. How's this software compared to SAI or other similar software?

Anime studio? Is it good?

I'd have to agree with you, manga studio was not impressive at all.

Yeah they were not good for me. But it's a different program. Just sharing the same name.
It has the same pen stability to SAI and more brush custom options than Photoshop.
Though the main point I'm using this is ability to produce backgrounds easily. It has many rulers, perspective tools, vectors, and 3D models for backgrounds. for example:
Clipboard 4.png
I set up this scene by 3 minutes. just drag&dropped a 3D room model onto layer then added layer effects, that's all.

One issue I have is the speed performance isn't as good as SAI. So I draw my characters with SAI and export them into Clip for backgrounds and other post-works.

I really like Manga Studio. I have a mac and can't use SAI or get the pen pressure to work if I put windows on my computer. After inking digitally with nothing but photoshop for YEARS it's like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I'm getting work done faster too. I can see how it wouldn't be that great for someone who is able to use SAI though.

I only manga studio for inking so I doubt I'll be upgrading anytime soon. Probably not until It becomes incompatible with any new os that comes along.

I also use Manga Studio but I reserve it for my inking and toned comics mostly. I love how the pen stroke is consistent; therefore, made it look much more cleaner on my linearts. I have an acquaintance who works on a big western comic company, and he also recommended me to use this one c:

Maybe Manga Studio 5.0 doesn't have an English version yet, but I hope they would have a translated version soon. I might consider buying one for professional use.

I used to have Manga Studio. I didn't use it for months though as it lagged like crazy. It took quite a while to load too. At most, I only used it for quick sketches and experimenting.
My brother also used Anime Studio once. It wasn't as I expected as it was more of drawing cartoons. I haven't used it myself, honestly. But my brother abandoned it after using it once or twice.
