FREE SKETCHUP RENDERER! BRIGHTER 3D! - READ MORE!!!

First and foremost... Not spam... no idea where to properly place it but this should be good enough place for creators using sketchup...

Get free sketchup renderer here...
http://www.brighter3d.com

It's probably good but I'm not endorsing it... It only works on Windows Vista and Windows 7 so Uncle Mugen says YUCK!... No support and love for Windows XP!?... What kind of Renderer doesn't support Windows XP?... That is just cruel and awful!

But we really can't complain... it's free and for sketchup... you try it if you want and it probably is very good but I ain't touching this until it supports Windows XP...

The developer posted this on his site, saying if he gets at least 30 users to say yes to Windows XP he will support it!

http://www.brighter3d.com/forum/?mingle ... #postid-80

C’mon guys… this is our only chance to get a promising renderer to support Windows XP… the OS of the GODS!

UNCLE MUGEN badly needs your help on this one!… please spread the word my friends!

Considering Windows 7 is already outmoded, I think it is understandable - especially if it utilises are newer version of DirectX in there somewhere. If you still use XP, I feel really sorry for you. I managed to get a bargain deal on 7 via my university and it should cost even less now.

What would make me jump at this though is if it had Linux support. I might try it if I get into this kind of thing, or share with a friend or two.

I think... I'm going to stand with the people right here who have no idea about the XP's perks. I skipped right from 98 to Vista. What's the magic about it?

I know... I have a Windows 7 machine on a separate laptop but most of my specialty program are installed on my XP machine had specific XP licenses that prevents me from jumping from XP to beyond. Also, I have set up my XP in a way that maximizes productivity. No matter how hard I try I just can't get used to Vista and 7... it's like an alternate dimension every time I look at them. It's like XP but only weirder and very hard to use...

Another thing is Adobe Photoshop 7... I heard it works on Vista and 7 but I've seen a few scary stories here and there and Adobe Photoshop 7 is one of those programs I can't live without...

Image

It sucks but I feel like my Windows XP world is getting smaller by the minute... I'm starting to have problems here and there...

One of the things I follow in life is "If it's not broken, don't fix it" Like Ren'py... I can't make 6.14 version work properly so why bother... let's stick to 6.13 which I know works reliably. They have the latest Word?... I can do whatever you are doing using Word 2003. Why buy the latest Adobe Creative Suite when all I need is Photoshop 7 to accomplish the task I needed to do... I know deep down inside this will hurt me in the long run but that's just me and my stubborn nature... I'm too old now to be adventurous... I'd rather play it safe within my means

But who knows, maybe 5 to 6 years from now... eventually my XP machine will fail and force me to use Vista or 7 loaded with newer programs...

Isn't it amazing!?... Nearly a decade after it's release I'm still using it to it's fullest potential and be productive...

There is no magic... it's just that XP is just very good at what it does... BEING THE OPERATING SYSTEM OF THE GODS! But I may be slightly biased here given that I've been using XP for long time but it just had this user friendly atmosphere to it not found on other newer or older OS yet still brutal enough to remind you that Windows XP can take every single molestation and abuse you can toss at it...

Yes, I have Windows 7 on a laptop and even a top of the line Mac but both machines are rarely used. At the end of the day, I still go back, sit down and open my beloved program bloated Windows XP machine that I know will present me with the familiar albeit cluttered desktop I love... :)

XP was good in it's day (let's forget about the first months of its release). Visually it was fantastic, it ran great, everything was where it should be and was only a couple clicks away. AND THAT WAS WITH OLD HARDWARE!

With the hardware now days xp runs like lightning. I run it on a pretty outdated laptop and it's still faster than my current beast machine running windows 7. It sucks, after all the updates and packs, that it's finally getting outdated :/

So the only reason you're not endorsing it because it can't run on XP? Hmmm... fair enough...
Too bad I don't have any decent hardware for my XP... the only reason I keep my XP is because I need it to run my old games.

Thanks for the link. I remember wasting an embarrassing amount of time trying to find a free renderer, with no luck.

The #renpy IRC channel is a great place to chat with other devs. Due to the nature of IRC and timezone differences, people probably won't reply right away.

If you set up a dual boot, you can run both XP and 7 on the same computer, in addition to whatever other operating system you feel like using. Assuming you have the disk space to spare.

How about the driver? Recent hardware doesn't have the driver for XP.

I don’t know anything about Sketchup.
I assume Sketchup can export as OBJ, FBX or something like that. Those searching for a free renderer, maybe you could try DAZ Studio (3Delight/Unbiased) or LuxRender (Biased) via Blender...

Now, SU2LUX (SketchUp Exporter to LuxRender), is in development, but it would be good to keep that one in mind.
