Re: How do you like the UI? (New UI images up!)
Personal opinion:
The text box should be wider.
Green text on a green background makes it almost unreadable.
The text box and portrait should be closer to the bottom and left edges.

Re: How do you like the UI? (New UI images up!)
I think it's better now.
In a "page layout" course I learned that centered elements are "neutral" and "default", left ones are "looking to the past" and right ones "looks to the future" (I don't know if I'm explaining it correctly). Then, if you don't have the intention to express something specific, the text box should be in the middle.
The text box is also very narrow now, but I like it. If the eye must roll less width, the reading is more comfortable (that's the reason newspapers have narrow columns).
About the resolution, I was only thinking about what devices is the game intended to work on. Netbooks usually have 1024x600, but most games (professional ones) are not intended to be played in these. Since RenPy is low resources consuming (i think), the games can be played in almost any computer. Of course, game resolution is up to the developer, and RenPy can resize up and down. I'd say that a medium choice is OK (not too small, but not too large). (There was a topic about resolution here: http://lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/viewto ... =4&t=17343).

Re: How do you like the UI? (almost perfect I think)
So I centered the text box, reworked the UI a bit and lowered it just a little.
@xavimat
Thanks for that, I think centered is the way to go.
I think I'm pretty happy with how it is, and that I'm just about ready to detail it and call it done.
@Trickwithaknife
Still thinking about those save/load buttons. I almost don't even want to have them but I figure it might be a bit too much having no options in a visible ui. Not everyone knows to use Esc.

You're wellcome
Don't call me punctilious, please,
Maybe you can add some more margin between the text and the cloud edge (only an opinion). And, perhaps if you put more text in the examples ("Lorem ipsum" stuff) you'll see better the final effect.
Hope it helps.

Oh yes, I actually added a bit of space. I'll fill it out with various things and post new screenies.xavimat wrote:You're wellcome![]()

Re: How do you like the UI? (almost perfect I think)
Gotta look after everyone. Actually, how you had it before would have been good if you'd changed the button text to black. The text size was small enough that they wouldn't be distracting.Geckos wrote:@Trickwithaknife

For the dialogue text, are you using a white outline? If so, having a darker outline would help make reading a little easier. Ignore if you go with a black text.

I'm going to work them into the clouds probably.TrickWithAKnife wrote:Gotta look after everyone. Actually, how you had it before would have been good if you'd changed the button text to black. The text size was small enough that they wouldn't be distracting.Geckos wrote:@Trickwithaknife

I have a very light blue outline around the text, and the color changes according to who is speaking. I tried black but it kind of vibrates and actually makes it harder to read.
