Art Dumpage! Show your art ^^
Re: Art Dumpage! Show your art ^^
Here are some drawings from when I was in my second year Highschool
(I used to draw during History classes so I never used colours) And then, my first time using any colour (No shades, no depth though OTL): And drawing with a tablet is way harder than with a pencil !!

A 20 or less minute sketch that I kept on refining. It was meant to use the new brush setting I saw on Tumblr, which was totally fun to play with. Practicing the flow of her hair in the wind, the clothes, and the folds as well. I unconsciously used what others call the rule of thirds... I didn't even notice.

Finally had the free time to draw again. I based this from Elsa Hosk as a reference picture.

Just trying something.
I'm not sure what it is I'm attempting, but I like it.

Re: Art Dumpage! Show your art ^^
It seems like people post their art here but very rarely comment on what other people have posted.
That's fine, but it would be cool to turn this thread into something constructive. Maybe every time you post your art, write a thoughtful comment about the post above yours. Just an idea. : )
I'll get the ball rolling with some back log feedback:
madocallie: Loving the sprite work. She has a lot of personality!
DNAniel213: It's really cool to see someone playing with forced perspective. It's tricky and easy to avoid, so doing it anyways is a drawing exercise. Keep it up!
Hijiri: Cute doodle. Great job getting the hand/fingers properly positioned. That can be a tricky angle.
Lumella: Lovely detail work on the clothing. It takes your lineart to the next level.
Stilts: Your wardrobe choices for your characters seem spot on and tell me a lot about them, which is important in character design.
Alera: I really like the background. It has a whimsical almost doll house feel to it, like you would see in a Wes Anderson movie.
Lyriale: I admire anyone who colors with a traditional media. That kind of practice will pay off no matter where you take it. Great color theory work.
Lumen_Astrum: Great job with the hair and the shading. The texture is also a nice touch!
Rue: Great costume design. Doing multiple angles and poses tells me that you're taking it seriously. Working like a professional is the best way to become one.
Ordog: Nice job with your first time coloring digitally. It's a tricky medium at first but you're already off to a great start. Keep up with it!
Shinoki: Really cute. Her expression tells me she's a spunky character.
hiko27: I really like the movement and shape of the hair. It gives your character a lot of life.
Sayumi101: Great start on the coloring. Adding in some complimentary colors will really help it pop, as well as having smoother shading on the softer fabric and sharper shading on the pleated skirt material.
Didules: creepy/cute is the best combo. Good job on the shading!
Marionette: Really intriguing character design. I want to see more.
Lumella: Braids are a real beast to tackle. Well done.
TheGuraGuraMan: Very interesting sketchy lineart. Reminds me of an inked comic. Definitely gives it a unique look!
Lyriale: Pretty! Seems like the experiment paid off. Very original.
MaiMai: She's a cutie. Good on you for redesigning and not sticking with something out of nostalgia or apathy. That's how you continue to improve.
JumpJump: Nice use of light and dark. I'd love to see your shading work adapted to color.
And here's a background I recently finished for my game:

Re: Art Dumpage! Show your art ^^
MelodyKnighton: Wah, it seems nice to do that~ I can't say much since I've never done a bg... But, they look nice, the items pop out. I think the coloring looks interesting~ The drawers look shiny and new~ The light from the lamp...is cool/awesomely done-night time. The lamps in the daytime? one looks like they're on, but it can be a bit confusing. (I can't really say much constructive though...)
(I drew half of the Akuma no Riddle Kurogumi cast...but for now, ...Chitaru and Hitsugi)

Re: Art Dumpage! Show your art ^^
@MelodyKnighton: Thank you for your comment! I think we did have a thing for this thread at one point where we tried to comment about the piece above ours, but it got lost at some point (this thread is super huge so it's a given). And there was this one time I gave some constructive criticism to someone's image, but they didn't take it very well yeah, I tend to only give crit it if it's asked for.
Still, a simple comment about what's good about a picture is good and doable. Also, your BG is great, I love the lineless style. The colors and values really pop out because of that.
@Shinoki: Keep it up. the one thing I would suggest is probably drawing bigger and utilizing the whole paper or whatever surface you draw on. It might be intimidating, but hey, what's drawing without a challenge?
